BITS AND PIECES!

I really don't have anything new to share this morning, so as the title says, it will be just bits and pieces of my thoughts/my life.

Church last night was a blessing as it always is for me.  Our Pastor is in W. Va. for a week long revival so we heard his brother in law bring the message, but he also has a beautiful singing voice, and sang 'Does Jesus Care?'

Yes, Jesus does care and He cares about our every day lives.  He cared so much that He went to that awful cross and gave His life for us.  What we do for Him now shows we care for Him.
The following are notes I took during the message last night.  Nothing in order, just thoughts that I need to apply to my life NOW!
     1) Make a choice to cease from sin.
     2) Say no to flesh.
     3) Make a choice to live for Him.
     4) His will, not mine.
     5) If we are not living for Him, we live for an idol.
     6) Live our lives with the judgment seat in mind.
     7) We are not God conscious.

I don't know about you, but I need these constant reminders in the world we live today.  God is put on the back burner in our lives.....work, play, tv, music, the general world around us blots out the most important thing.

I saw on GMA this morning, the discussion about what our youth are wearing these days to prom.  Strapless, short short, or backless dresses and GMA wanted our opinions.  If our young people are wearing these today, in say 8th grade, what will they wear in the 12th grade or college or the work world?  Modesty and decency has gone out the window.

A statement in my bits and pieces = I am entirely too involved in my children's lives.  All of my children are adults and have to make their own decisions, but they choose to run these decisions by me, thus making me think too much and at times, making me upset.  I cant say 'yes' or 'no' because anything really isn't my business, but by telling me, they make it so.  Grrrrrrrrr.  Does anyone understand what I am saying?  I want out!

     On a lighter note,
THREE HYMNS----------

One Sunday a pastor told his congregation that the church needed some extra money and asked the people to prayerfully consider giving a little extra in the offering plate. He said that whoever gave the most would be able to pick out three hymns.
After the offering plates were passed, the pastor glanced down and noticed that someone had placed a $1,000 bill in offering. He was so excited that he immediately shared his joy with his congregation and said he'd like to personally thank the person who placed the money in the plate.
And there sat our Rosie all the way in the back shyly raised her hand. The pastor asked her to come to the front. Slowly she made her way to the pastor. He told her how wonderful it was that she gave so much and in thanksgiving asked her to pick out three hymns.
Her eyes brightened as she looked over the congregation, pointed to the three most handsome men in the building and said, "I'll take him and him and him!"

  1. Good morning !
I think modest clothing is actually more beautiful and comfortable.
    Have a great day!

  2. I wonder what the parents are doing, to let their young daughters go out of the house dressed like street walkers? There is just too much of everything, everywhere, today.

Our boys don't involve us at all in their decisions, so I guess I should stop feeling left out and be thankful!! Of course, ours live 1,000+ miles away, so that probably makes a difference. We aren't close by to see them frequently. It would be different if we saw them more often, I'm sure.

Without Jesus...I can't imagine. Have a good day!!

  3. Thank also for your comment this morning, I am so very glad and thankful like the song YES Jesus does care for you & I and He knows the insides and outs of every detail and circumstance of our life.

Just keep on shining Linda and I know you do. Your love for your family and for God has an influence , some may not be seen immediately but each prayer is heard by God and each seed that is planted into the lives of those around you makes a difference! Love & blessings HUGS

  4. Those are good notes from the service last night. We all need to pay attention. The world around us is all material and self-serving distractions. In the church we used to attend, the talk was always the same... 'keep you eye on the prize'. The pastor always talked about the gold streets, etc. I never liked that. I live to love and please God -- not for the prize He has for us in heaven. I always thought that also came from the world we live in today. Everyone is trying so hard to get what they want... material things.
I agree with you on the lack of modesty these days... girls showing too much skin and boys showing their underwear.
And I know what you mean about our kids getting us involved in their lives. They're adults now... our job is done! We can only hope we did a good job. I know I'm healthier and happier if I'm not worrying and obsessing over their problems. I'd prefer to stay out of it too. It's hard to do.
Sorry I got so windy. You take care and have a great day.

  5. Good afternoon, Linda! Your page is so pretty! Those were great reminders and the one that helps me the most through life is remembering, it is His will and Not mine! I agree that young girls are dressing way too sexy. I am so grateful that I never had to worry about that with Lauren and Lindsay. Have a wonderful day!!

  6. You never had to worry about them, because you reared them right. It is a sight to see some of the young girls these days. Hope your day is going good.

  7. Good notes from the message. I need those reminders daily - and sometimes hourly!
I agree about the clothing. I don't think it's attractive and I can't imagine it's comfortable either. I would always be pulling it to make sure it was covering what it was supposed to. :)

  8. Ha! Cute story. I understand how, having your adult children come to you can be a problem...two of mine rarely if ever do anymore, but the other one still needs us. There are times I am ready for them all to just be able to take care of themselves and make their own choices and live with whatever consequences come.
