Let's see, what do I need to post. Oh yes, a cute one. My 5 year old grandson stays with a lady during the day while my son and daughter in law work. This lady keeps any where from 2 - 5 children at any given time. Jesse came in one day last week and began telling me about a new little boy named Dawson. He said he is so cute Nana, he has elf ears! Oh my. The babysitter's daughter posted this picture on Facebook of Jesse feeding Dawson. I don't see elf ears, do you? Well maybe...:-)
Yesterday Jim went out in his smokehouse, where he has been curing three country hams. What he discovered upset him terribly. Someone had stolen one of the hams. These hang from the ceiling, so it wasn't a child, or animal. He just couldn't believe that someone would steal meat and if they did, why they only took one of them.
So, we went on to the doctor at 7:30, where he got a prescription for a walker with a seat and basket, so off we went looking for one at a equipment company.
From there, we went straight to Caroline's walk-a-thon, where I took several pictures of them having so much fun.
So, after that we hit the road, trying to find a place to have a new lock and key made for the smokehouse. He also locked up a container and of course the garage. Not to say a lock will prevent someone that really wants to break in, but it might deter them or someone might hear or see them and stop it. This old world is really in a bad shape if someone has to steal meat. As Jim said, he couldn't sell it and get money for drugs, but maybe they were hungry. If I were hungry though, I wouldn't be stealing country ham. Sigh!
We ended the night by going out to eat and then taking our usual ride through downtown. Man oh man, everybody and his brother were out, eating at the outside restaurants, walking their babies in strollers, etc. It is a very active part of Chattanooga - down by the Tennessee River area and the Aquarium.
I do have one last request if you will. My daughter in law was laid off from her job yesterday, after being there 8 years. It is one of those big insurance companies that have the reputation of doing things like that. She has until 5-10 to reapply to another department within the company and then she would receive a severance package if she isn't hired. Plus the company has hired a group to help those laid off, to update their resumes' and help them find work. Needless to say, she and my son were devastated. She has perfect marks on her work and had just received a raise. But it is my understanding that these companies like to get rid of those making the most, so they can hire someone new and pay them the lowest salary, thus saving them money. Oh, and they laid off 9 in her department and hired 19 new employees in India. So please pray that God's will be done for her and their family.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.
Good morning, Linda! That is so awful that someone stole a ham! Don't you wish you had one of those gaming cameras hooked up so you could see who is was? Our friends who the cottage that we go to have a gaming camera and he downloaded the pics and there was a stray dog that kept coming on their property. He would only come at night, never in the day. That type of camera would come in handy for you and Jim. I know that I am not OCD. I like things in order but it I'm not obsessed with it. It looks like they had a beautiful day for the walk-a-thon! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda.... sorry to hear that about your daughter's job. There are a lot of companies doing that same thing. It's horrible. There's no loyalty for the workers that help them make all those big bucks. God bless her and her family. ** As for your son's ham, I think it had to be someone who knew he had meat in there. Unless they just followed the sweet smell. I think Kris (above) had a good idea of using the camera. I just hope the lock keeps them out. It's too expensive to feed a thief. ** There were a lot of people walking yesterday. That's great. ** Hope you have a good day. ♥
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, so sorry to hear about your daughter's job. I don't hoard, either, in fact, I hate clutter. I also love to organize but don't consider it an obsession, as on days where I am under the weather I don't mind if I let things go for a day or two. I don't have OCD but I can empathize with those who do. I think it is good to keep things organized, as when you really need to find something you don't spend a half hour looking for it. You have a very nice blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today. Just so you can know me better, I am not OCD...When I saw the definition I thought, yeah, I am organized, and the other things, but not a hoarder...lol Please visit any time, I blog every day as long as I am not ill. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteHi Linda! Late, as usual, but I am here! What a shame that one of your hams was stolen! One of those hunter's cameras would be a good idea, perhaps. There is an article in our paper this morning, talking about the cameras our City workers installed to help protect our swan population and their eggs. It is quite interesting what they got photos of! Here is a link to the story, with a photo of the cameras they use: http://www.theledger.com/article/20130412/NEWS/130419848?tc=cr
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great day for the walk, and a huge turnout! Jesse is just the sweetest little man! How great that he is feeding his new 'friend' Dawson!
I'm not OCD, though I like having a clean house - a little dust doesn't bother me. My shoes get piled up in a mound by my dresser, until I am ashamed and put them back in the shoe organizer in our closet. That would drive you crazy!! LOL
Hope you are enjoying your Saturday!!
Prayers for your son and daughter-in-law. I hope she finds work soon.
