TGIF

I am very happy that it is Friday and the rain has moved out and sunshine is on the way in!  It has seemed like a long week but maybe because we had to stay inside most of the days.

A friend sent me an email yesterday with lots of helpful, handy hints and I decided to share one a day.....this one was my favorite to begin with---------
I did manage to accomplish two of the things I had planned for this week though....had the oil changed in my car and got my hair cut.

Jim and I have been talking, and we are both trying to get our 'stuff' together so that our children will not have any problems when either or both of us die.  Things like making sure our wills are in order and up to date; making sure and writing it down, where we want to be buried - he wants to be cremated and I do not.  He bought a cemetery some years ago, that is in the area where he grew up as a boy, and all of his family members are buried there, and that is where we too will be placed.  My family is buried all over...some in Nashville, Smithville, and Chattanooga.

My final resting place can be anywhere, because my soul and spirit will go to Heaven and only my physical body will be in the ground.

This subject is difficult for some people to even talk about but we both agreed that death is part of life and making it easy on our children is the main reason we are doing this now.  I think we just about finished this week and it is a good feeling.

Never-ending laundry is calling my name today, so will spend my time between reading on the porch and playing catch up.
It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!

  2. Good morning, Linda! I've seen that hint about the pants hanger before and it's a good one! I bet an adjustable skirt hanger would probably hold an ipad (or other brand), too, if you had a recipe stored on Pinterest!

That all important talk about final plans is a tough one, but one we all should be facing and communicating about with our loved ones. Joe and I both want to be cremated, but being Catholic, the ashes must be buried in sacred ground - not stored on a mantel or shelf in the closet. We'll have the standard visitation and Mass prior to cremation, though.

I am glad it's Friday!! Enjoy your day and I wish you a good weekend!

  3. This is a hard discussion. One I have been having with my father lately. He won't decide on a cemetery or on plans. What to do? I would like it to be his choice, but I think it is too difficult for him to talk about. Kudos to both of you for taking this into your hands now.

  4. That is a hard subject to talk about. Bob and I have just barely scratched the surface. We really must get started on this.
At one time I had a subscription to one of those monthly magazines that was full of recipes. I just gave all of them to my daughter. That hint with the hanger would have come in handy, had I know about it back then.
I know my laundry multiplies during the night. Or it exploded. I need to do another load of dark clothes today.
Hope you have a great day. ♥

  5. Nice springy background. I like the quote by Mark Twain also. Love the hanger idea for holding a book :)
I know what you mean about final plans . My husband and I have talked about it. It's really important , just not fun to do but with it comes a peace knowing it would be easier for our children.
    Enjoy this lovely Spring day!

  6. The hanger is such a great tip! It's so simple but it is one that I would have never of thought of..lol. I think it is so awesome that you and Jim are getting your affairs in order. I know death is never something that we want to think about but we can't escape it. By taking care of everything now you will be saving your children the heartache of having to make decisions. Walt and I were talking about doing this too. We are paying on our grave plot right now and should have it paid off in a couple of years.
