MORE OF THE SAME!

Sometimes our faith is all we have to cling to.  It seems lately that is the way it is for me.  Jim isn't any better at all and seems to be fading right before my eyes.  My faith is all I have and I DO cling to it day to day.

I did finally get him to eat something yesterday evening late.  He wanted a soft taco!!!  Of all things, but if he would eat it, I would go get it.  So, I went up on the main highway from where we live to Taco Bell, and lo and behold, he did eat one and then ate some ice cream.  SCORE!

I think things seem so much worse when we have grey skis and rain, don't you?  If the sun would come out at least I wouldn't have to keep every light in the house on, and could maybe even get in some porch time.  I am reading a new book, "The Shekinah Legacy" by Gary Lindberg.  It was advertised as a 'thriller' and so far it sure is.  I have mentioned before that I enjoy mysteries and 'who dunnits' and this one so far seems to be my kind of reading.  My trusty Kindle Fire keeps me sane.

I am going to Sunday School and Church this morning and my son, who lives next door, is going to keep Jim company for me.

To show you how small the internet has made our world, a young lady who is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, met a gentleman from my church in a Christian Chat Room, over 3 years ago, and he led her to the Lord.   They have been chatting online and on the telephone ever since.  He told me one day at church that I should 'befriend' her on Facebook, and I did.

She is 34 years old, has a degree in Clinical Psychology and worked at the penitentiary there in Wisconsin.   She has mesothelioma ( a malignant tumor of the covering of the lung or the lining of the pleural and abdominal cavities, often associated with exposure to asbestos) and has never been around asbestos in her life.  She had to quit work due to this disease and all the surgeries and treatments she has to have.  The type she has is very rare and has been told there are approximately 200 cases world wide like hers.  She made a CD of her testimony and mailed to me, and I used it for our devotion at my last Sunday School class meeting.  She is stable for the moment.

Well, to make this shorter, she needed a vacation and is here!  She is staying with another lady in our church, who befriended her as well, and lives alone.  I haven't been able to meet her yet due to Jim being 'under the weather', but will get to this morning at church.  She is certainly a brave young lady having been through all she has, and then to go to a totally different state, miles away from her home, to meet strangers.  God moves in wonderful ways.

Grayce's soccer team played in Atlanta  yesterday and won both of their games, and she scored a goal in the second game.  GO GRAYCE!  I guess they are practicing in the pool - lol....G. is on the far right.

Aryn's AAU basketball team played 2 games near Nashville, TN., won 1, lost 1, but play again today.  GO ARYN!  The girl can dribble!

I pray each and every one of you is able to attend the church of your choice and thank God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon us and for those He will give us in the coming days.

  3. Good morning, Linda. I'm glad to hear that Jim ate something yesterday, and hope he has an appetite for something today!

What an interesting story about the young lady you will get to finally meet today! I look forward to hearing about it!! My dear friend, Peggy, died of mesothelioma quite a few years ago. She had never worked around asbestos, either, but had the disease just the same. We come in contact with that nasty stuff and don't even realize it. I'm sorry for her suffering. Peggy went pretty fast after her diagnosis, but it took them awhile to make a diagnosis. Very sad. I'm glad she found the Lord, and that she is surrounded by people who care!

Hooray for the girls' successes! You have very beautiful and talented grandchildren!

Love & hugs (we are meeting Sandie on our trip down I-75!!).

  5. The young woman is BEAUTIFUL! And now she has a beautiful testimony. And a PRAISE for your husband eating "a bit" and for your son living next door. God gives us what we need when we need it. As they said in our Sunday School Class last week when someone was talking about all the "dark" times for Christians, the answer was we couldn't appreciate the lighter times without the contrast. However, like any of us, I despise going through the dark. It does get hard to see the light at at times. Thanks for finding time to write to us. We will keep praying for strength and wisdom for you.
