STORMS OF LIFE!

Matthew 8:23-26

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm."

Whatever your boat is going through, Jesus is in it!

I have to cling to this every day and for the rest of my life.  Jim was out in the garden, looking at the damage to his few tomato plants (after the hard rain and high winds) and fell again.  I looked out the window and couldn't see him in his truck or anywhere, so ran out the back door and sure enough, he was down and couldn't get up.  I called my daughter in law next door to come help me get him up.  Just then, my son came in from work and ran out and was able to get him up.....  This time he tore some pretty severe places on his arm and knee.

I got him in the house, put towels in his chair and he sat down and said he had to wait a bit before he could clean up.  He wanted one of his pain pills, so got that for him, and he did sit for about an hour and then was able to take a shower (the shower has a seat in it and a hand held shower head) and we bandaged his arm and knee.  He will probably be pretty sore and stiff today.

Our boats cannot and will not sink with Jesus in them!  God knows what we need and when we need it.  He has allowed me to not be in pain, and to be able to shift into nurse mode to help Jim.

The Riverbend Festival begins today and goes on for 8 days.  I used to get excited and looked forward to going, but these days, walking on concrete with 100,000 people is just not exciting any more.  Road closure, traffic jams and having to park and walk for blocks and blocks isn't exciting either!  Hope all goes well for those that do continue to enjoy those things.

  1. Well, I'm sure glad we were in Chattanooga last week, and not this week! Wow, what a crowd! I remember you talking about this 8-day event, last year, on Multiply.

Sounds like Jim did not have his walker with him, outside at the garden. These men!!!! Don't they ever learn? Using a walker does not show weakness, it shows great intelligence. It's so hard. Keeping him AND YOU in my prayers.

  3. You have your hands full with Jim. I'm sure glad his injuries weren't more severe.

  4. I'm so glad your son got there to help with Jim and that he wasn't injured more than he was.
I wouldn't want to be in that big crowd either - too much congestion for me!

  5. I'm sorry about Jim's fall. I know that scared you so badly.
I no longer enjoy walking, large crowds etc. either.
I hope that each of you has a better day.

  6. Oh my... poor guy. That had to be scary, finding him on the ground on that.
I don't enjoy the crowds either. Our little town is having the annual Peony Festival this weekend and several streets are closed up in the center of town to accommodate the various activities. It's going to be a mess with lots of people coming from out of town to see the parade, etc.
Hope you both have a good day. You're still on my prayer list. ♥

  8. My "girl"friends were talking about Riverbend and said they enjoyed it but some were not going this year because of the crowds. Glad it is so successful though.
I am also glad your husband did not end up in the hospital. He would not enjoy that at all. It is difficult to live on a roller coaster of health.
