Yesterday was an amazing day! I am not crazy, so do not say, "that woman is disrespectful or shouldn't say or feel like that", but the funeral I attended yesterday was the best funeral I have ever been to. The man from my church had such a great testimony, was loved and loving, a Godly man all of his life, faithful to same church for 42 years and a man who loved, worked and took care of his family, that it wasn't a sad funeral at all. It was happy, no tears shed, some laughter when the Pastor told some funny things about him down through the ages. My favorite song, Because He Lives, was sung and I didn't shed my usual tears. We all felt and knew beyond a shadow of doubt that this man was, as my Pastor said, "kicking up gold dust" in Heaven right now. It would be a blessing that when my time comes, just a tenth of what was said yesterday, could be said of me.
Then I went for my follow up with back doctor and got a clean bill of health!
Then as Jim was feeling better, talking, eating, and safe, I went to see my granddaughter Aryn, play basketball in a tournament. It was so much fun, and she still 'has it' on the court!
I get to go to church tonight and always look forward to that as well. So Tuesday, June 4, 2013 was a happy day for me!
I'm so glad you had a good day yesterday. I can't imagine going to a funeral like that. I think we can all hope, when our time comes, that our family and friends will be able to remember the good things about us too.
ReplyDeleteYou and Jim have a good day today. ♥
So glad to read your news, Linda. I don't think it is weird to say it was a good funeral. Isn't that what all of us should want? After all, it is a celebration of life and, as Christians, we know that our loved one is in a much better place. Our grief is selfish. We are the ones left behind. Of course, I know it isn't as easy as that makes it sound. How wonderful that his family was able to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteGlad Jim is doing better and that you could get out to see your granddaughter play! Hugs & love!
Well said Terri, and thank you for understanding as always.
DeleteAll Christian funerals should be like that - a celebration of the life lived and the eternal life they now enjoy. I'm so glad you had such a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI love that song!!! God is soooo good to give you the encouragement of a great day. We can pray you have many, many more. One good thing about some of the dark days you have had is that they made yesterday that much more special. I agree with you about the funeral. I have been to some like those where life was celebrated and you do come away from that type of service with joy.
ReplyDeleteGood to feel your smile...
ReplyDeleteMay yours and Jim's days continually be filled with more and more.
Hugs,
Jackie
