On we go....................one holiday down, another on the way!

Hope everyone had plenty to eat and plenty of fellowship with those you love.  We  probably had one of the best Thanksgiving gathering that we have had in many years.

The food was extra special.  We all agreed that every single dish, pie or cake was yummy!

A very special thing happened.  We were all 15 in the livingroom and someone said, let's say the blessing now and then we can go by and fill our plates.

Jesse, my 5 year old grandson wanted to say the blessing, so we all bowed our heads and he began........."I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America", and continued through the entire pledge, never missing a word.  You could hear gasps and a few giggles, but he never stopped.  I couldn't resist in taking a picture, and as you can see, some still had their eyes closed, but some couldn't!

He had a little trouble with a word or two at the end, so his Dad was helping him finish.  I promise that will be remembered by everyone for many years to come.  It will be one of the traditions that we mention each time we gather.  When he said Amen, I said, well, we are definitely thankful for America, and not a soul told him he should have said something different!

We all said we ate too much and needed to scatter to their homes for a nap!

Aryn continues to play in the basketball tournament today at noon and of course we will be going to that.

Tonight we go to visitation for our dear friend that spent Thanksgiving in Heaven and tomorrow the graveside service and burial.  The high tomorrow is to be 49, so we will have to bundle up.

Enjoy your weekend and if you do the "Black Friday" thing, God bless you!  lol

  1. Good morning after turkey day, Linda! It feels like Sunday to me! LOL

What a wonderful memory to have, of Jesse saying the blessing like that! Reminds me of a similar scene in the Christmas Vacation movie!! I'm sure Jesse felt so good about being able to say the blessing!

No Black Friday shopping for me. Some of my friends look forward to it and are out a 3:00 a.m., standing in line. Maybe if I had little ones to buy for...but I don't, so I won't!

Good luck to Aryn and her team today! Keep us posted please!

  4. That's so cute. He probably felt very pleased that he could do that for everyone. Bless his heart.
Sounds like you had a good day. I don't do the 'black Friday' thing. Those people are crazy. Our daughters went out to WalMart Thursday evening for the early specials and sent me back a video of all the people out there grabbing and screaming. Nope... not me. Have a great weekend.

  5. What a precious moment Jessie gave everyone this Thanksgiving! You are right..that story will be told for years to come! Your buffet looks so yummy! That is so wonderful that you had all of your love ones together this year. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend and her family. Is this the friend that has been suffering for many years? She suffers no more and is rejoicing with our Lord!
