You know. . . Time has a way of moving quickly
And catching you unaware of the passing years. A couple of friends and I were talking about this very thing last night before the church service started.
It seems just yesterday that I was young,
just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago,
and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all...But, here it is... The winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...
How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?
But, here it is... My friends are retired and getting grey... They move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me... But, I see the great change...like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! 'cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so, now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!!
Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish
I hadn't done... things I should have done, but indeed,
there are many things I'm happy to have done.
It's all in a lifetime...
So, if you're not in your winter yet...
Let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. Whatever you would like to accomplish in your life, please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!!
Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today,
as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...
So, live for today and say all the things you want your loved ones to remember... and hope they appreciate and love you for all the things you have done for them in all the years past!!
Life is a gift to you.

Life is a gift :) wonderful message :)
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking on this same topic this week, but haven't had the where-with-all to sit down and actually blog about it. Good thoughts - thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post! Great minds think alike as I have been thinking about all of that as well. Thank you for the sweet post. I'm not one to carry grudges but she was ruining my health and she will never change. She has a fiance and she is 35. Let her paddle her own canoe! I want snow!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePS The above was from Dachsielvr. I must have somehow switched over to my dog's blog which I haven't written on in forever...
ReplyDeleteLOL, I was just going to write and say I was glad you visited my blog, but wasnt sure who you were...lol Glad to know we arent alone in our feelings for our children. Enjoy the rest of your day.
ReplyDeleteGood blog. Guess we all need to value each day as we live it.
ReplyDeleteI think of it all the time, Linda. I have a hard time remembering that I am in my 60s now. Yes, I wonder where the time goes all the time. I don't feel old, but I am! LOL Praise God.
ReplyDeleteI think about this very thing quiet often. In Feb. I'll be 67 years old!!! 67 !!!! I can't be that old. Like so many of us always say.... I don't feel that old.
ReplyDeleteI used to have that "bucket list" but I destroyed it. It was too depressing. Like the guys in the movie, I wanted to travel to other countries. But now I'll never do that, I know I won't. So each day I try to concentrate on the fact that God has given me another day to do what I want. I only hope what I do will be productive and possibly something that my family will remember.
You have a wonderful day. Your new background is so cute.
Great post, Linda! I can totally relate. It seems like just yesterday that I was changing Lauren's diaper and today she is celebrating her 24th birthday and is a married woman. How did that happen? I cherish everyone in my life and I don't hesitate to tell them every single day:-)
