Friends. I have made new friends at church. I have made new friends because of and through the Internet on yahoo 360, then Multiply and now Blogger. I feel like I know these people as we share our day to day activities, our families, our ups and downs. Now, I have started a new addition to friends....'postcrossing'. I received my second post card yesterday and it was from Belarus, and the woman's name is Julia. In my profile I put that I am very involved in my church and that I enjoy church architecture. She must have picked up on that because her postcard shows churches in her country.
Belarus is situated in the center of Europe, and has international borders with five countries:
- Russia
- Ukraine
- Poland
- Lithuania
- LatviaThe youth in my church leaves this Friday for a week's mission trip to Guyana, South America. There are 6 youth and 5 adults going and if you are a praying person, I would ask that you pray for these young people. Pray for traveling safety and that they will be able to share the Gospel with the children there. They will be having 3 different Vacation Bible Schools in three areas of that country, and then our Pastor, who is also traveling with them, will be preaching in three churches during the week. Call their names out to our Lord and Savior:
Have a great Tuesday!
Where would we be without our friends? I have 4 very close friends and one that is like a sister to me. I can't imagine my life without them. I am also so thankful for the friendship that I have through the blogging world. Your friendship is such a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI really love this post card project you are doing. It is so interesting! How is Jim feeling today? Prayers continue for you both. Have a wonderful day, Linda!
Kris, thanks for asking, but Jim has those 'good' days and then the 'bad' ones kick in. Yesterday and today are in the bad category, so am praying the good comes back for him soon. I appreciate your friendship as well.
DeleteHow neat to have a postcard from there
ReplyDeletePrayers for your mission group... God be with them. ** I've never heard of that country either. That's exciting to see the churches in her part of the world. They're beautiful. I also love to see the architecture of churches. I even have a picture folder of several I've found here and there. :)
ReplyDelete** Your observation on friends is very accurate. I've been down all those routes. All my high school friends have vanished. There was one gal I was beginning to connect with again. Then she died. I had another very close friend for years. She even lived next door for awhile. Then she died. I made contact again with a close friend in the town where we used to live. It was like we hadn't been separated all that time, we picked up right where we left off. It was so comforting to have her back. Then she died. It's been rather un-nerving. (and I don't know why I mentioned all this, maybe just to say... don't take your friends for granted. If one of them has been on your mind for some unknown reason, reach out and call them. We never know what tomorrow brings.)
So true about the friends - I have one, we've been friends since we sat next to each other in first grade - we don't talk as much as I'd like, but when we do...it's like we've seen each other everyday. I have another friend I met online 8 years ago now and we connect almost everyday. Friendship is important.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post, Linda! You know (I hope!) how much I value my friendships - those here included! I am so blessed to have maintained a good relationship and friendship with two special women, from the time we were 10 or 11 years old...50+ years. Facebook has put in back in touch with quite a few of my high school friends, with whom I had lost touch over the years. The internet is a great thing, for sure. I treasure the friendship you and I have formed, and feel so blessed that we got to meet in person!
ReplyDeleteCertainly I will pray for the children going out on their mission trip! I love that you asked us to "call out their names" and you may trust that I will do just that!
I am intrigued by your postcard project and may have to look into it more closely. How great that the woman from Belarus took time to find picture cards that fit your profile information! I have heard of Belarus, but did not know where it is located. How fun, and how informative!! Thanks for sharing your experiences with Postcrossing!!
Hope Jim is having a better afternoon! Love & hugs!
I wish I could say Jim is better, but he seems to be going backward right now....cant talk, without slurring his words, doesn't know what day it is, if he has to go somewhere or not, and what he does say makes no sense. Staggering again; just pitiful and makes me so sad. Thank you for praying for us and our young people too. I can always count on you. The post-crossing is fun and knowing you as I do, I think, if you had time, you would enjoy it too. Summer is busy for most folks, but not me, so it gives me something to look forward to in the long days. Sending love and hugs.
DeleteI love the postcards! It's so fun to have a connection in a different country. Our youth are leaving for a mission trip on Friday too, but ours are going to New York for a work project.
ReplyDeleteI do pray for their safety and the work they will do. I know God will bless them.
DeleteNot having a sister, I am fortunate to have a friend who is like a sister to me. We've been friends for 50 years. In fact she is an only child, so we always say we are like sisters. We've been blessed. Prayers for a safe journey for the Mission Group.
ReplyDeleteThe post card is great - what fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been at home for the past 20 years caring for family members and blogging for the last 5 has brought me so many precious blog friends. So nice to visit with you!
The internet really has brought the world to us, hasnt it? I know there is always bad in everything, but for me, it has been a God-send in that I can communicate with others as if they were sitting here talking to me. I am happy to be friends with you and hope we can become better friends in the days to come.
DeleteFriends make life worth living!
