A message from "Love Worth Finding Ministries" by Adrian Rogers:

Satan and Superficial Churches

'I want to lift up a red flag of warning against superficial religion. I believe that Satan is in the corner smiling when people put doubts in the minds of little children concerning the Word of God.
When Satan first crawled his slimy corroding path onto the pages of history, he put a question mark after the Word of God and said, “Yeah, hath God said? You don’t have to take His word for it” (see Genesis 3).
I thank God for Bible-believing churches, but if you are a member of a church that doubts the Word of God, you need to saturate that church with your absence. You say, “Well, Grandma is buried in the backyard.” Well, she would get up and leave too if she could. I’ll guarantee it.'

  1. That's so true. We've been in that position. We left when the pastor started putting himself on a pedestal. He actually told the congregation they didn't need to read their Bibles anymore, we had him. He would tell us what we needed to know. And he told a close friend "leave your wife because she's holding you back from your ministry". That's just a couple of the things we couldn't stay and listen to anymore. ♥

  2. God has spoken. It is His Word. The Bible is the infallible Word of our Father. Thank you for encouraging people to stay in The Word, read His Word and heed His Word.

  3. Many people think Catholics don't believe in or study the Bible. Nothing could be further from the truth. We have three Bible readings during each service, and the sermon is usually spun off from what the Gospel reading was about. Bible study is also offered during the year. We have more books in our Catholic Bible, than the protestant versions! Our Bible is bigger! :)

You are so right, Linda. There are too many cult religions out there now, that pull people in and lead them along the wrong path. We must be always vigilant and keep our faith in Christ at the forefront, not getting lost in the charismatic charms of a person who probably does not really care about saving souls, and bringing people to Christ.

    Good post.

  4. The Bible is the Word of God and because it claims to the Word of God, it is the Word of God. Period. I have been saved by his Grace. We are studying Apologetics in Sunday School and let me tell you...what other religions and scholors/philosophers believe is something, perhaps that is why I failed philosophy in college. Thank You Linda for your post.

  5. Boy, AMEN to this post!! It's unfortunate, but I think that God has very little to do with any of the organized religions. Seems like all they care about is how much money they brought in and how many have "joined" the church and so forth. Corruption is rife in my opinion. Now Hubby and I worship at home or with friends and family members whenever we're together. Good thing we're all saved by grace and not by works. God bless. ~:)

  6. This is so true! Our church recently lost our building and is now meeting in a school because we left a denomination that was straying from God's word. God has blessed us, even in that school building and we are growing.
