Jim spent the day on Monday with me at the hospital, so yesterday I spent the day with him at a doctor's office. Today he goes into hospital for a procedure but because they will put him to sleep, we will probably be there all day. It is an outpatient procedure, and supposedly a simple one, but you know how that goes.
I am still so much better and I thank God.
The birthday party went over great last night and Jesse seemed to enjoy. Today is his real birthday, so he will be celebrating with friends and other family members.
This government shut-down is the talk of the town. I honestly don't think anyone really knows what is going on, what to do, or what the outcome will be. We peons just have to wait and see. Since Jim and I already have insurance, we wont be visiting the 'marketplace', but I do know some that don't have it already and are happy to seek out coverage.
A fun craft to consider for fall is pressed flowers, leaves or anything pertaining to the season. I have done this many times and am always amazed what the flowers look like after being pressed.
Pressed flowers make lovely cards, pictures, pretty boxes, and much more. Here's instructions on how to press those lovely blooms.
Pick flowers, grasses, and ferns on a dry afternoon, avoiding flowers with complex petals and thick stems. Arrange your finds between sheets of smooth blotting paper(can used waxed paper) and weight them down with heavy books or bricks. Leave undisturbed in a warm, dry place for three to four weeks.
Using tweezers, move the dried flowers to a card or piece of paper, and affix them carefully with diluted white glue.
You may want to spray the finished arrangement with a clear acrylic spray or, if you put the flowers on a box, use clear varnish.
Jesus, we look forward to that day when we will
be with You! We want to be ready, but we know
we can’t live a life that is pure unless You are
in us and help us. Change us and fill us.
There is no greater privilege than to know the King of kings.

That's so true. When Jesus touched me, I became a new person, in so many ways. I'm so blessed.
ReplyDeleteI pray your hubby's procedure goes well. I'm glad you're doing better.
The dried leaves and flowers are pretty. I've done that before with funeral flowers, but nothing lately. I may do some for greeting cards.
You're right about people not knowing what's going on with the gov't shut down. The effects are becoming grim but with most people, if it's not affecting their lives in front of them, they don't bother knowing. I always think of them as ostriches.
You have a great day.
Praying for your hubbys procedure. Don't even get me started on the Obamacare..scary on how they are going to force ppl to pay, one way or another ..another discussion for another day. Blessings
ReplyDeletePraying for Jim, and hope his procedure goes well. obamacare...just can't go there (I also can't capitalize his name).
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are feeling better, Linda! Praise God! How blessed we are to have Jesus in our lives!
Y'all need to stay out of Hospitals, it isn't healthy. [lol] I was in and out of Hospitals and Doctors up until last year. I'd rather not be cooling my heels in any more doctors waiting rooms again. Praying that your hubby gets better soon too.
ReplyDeleteThe pressed flowers are lovely. We used to do that in school "100 years" ago.
Obamacare is not about Health care. It's about wealth redistribution, getting the medical profession to join Unions and the total destruction of America. It's best NOT TO SIGN UP. If their evil plan works and the Reps cave (they'd better NOT!), the government will send a threatening letter to pay a "fee". The most it'll be is $95 or so a year (as apposed to $900 a month for "insurance" with $2,000 a year deductables). So, let them worry about it if it's so important. Don't sign up!
Prayers for your husband's procedure.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers for you and for Jim...
ReplyDeleteAlways.
And...thank you for the dried flowers tip. I'm going to do this. It looks beautiful!
