Good Tuesday morning to one and all. What is on your agenda today? According to the weatherman, this is probably our last blue sky, sunshine and puffy cloud day. Rain is rolling our way and then the temperatures will plummet.
This is homecoming week at the schools, and Grayce's 6th grade class was to dress as a cartoon character or a 'nerd'. She chose nerd, and I love it!
Aryn's volleyball team hosts and plays in the Region tournament this evening. They play at 4:30, then if they win that one, they will play the winner of the next game at 7 for the championship, and if they win that, they will advance to the sub-State. GO EAGLES!
Do you have a wood burning fireplace? Do you use it to help heat your home in the winter? If so, here are some good hints and helps:
Firewood Tips and Best Bets----

Wet wood is easier to split than dry wood.
Wood must be split into pieces and stacked out of the rain for at least six months to season properly.
If steam bubbles and hisses out of the end grain as the firewood heats up on the fire, the wood is wet, or green, and needs to be seasoned longer before burning.
Well-seasoned firewood generally has darkened ends with visible cracks or splits. It is relatively lightweight and makes a sharp, distinctive "clink" when two pieces strike each other.
Limit the amount of pine you burn. It's a resinous softwood.
Coffee - What brand do you drink? Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, Folgers, Maxwell House??? I bought a pound of 'Seattle's Best' this past week. I got the medium roast and it is fantastic. When I opened the package, it was really dark and I feared it would be too strong, but it isn't, and I will definitely buy it again.
Genesis 6:8 "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."
"How was Noah saved? By grace. The only way that anybody has ever been saved in the history of the world is by grace. God only has one plan of salvation from beginning to end and that is grace.
What is grace? It means that God saves us apart from any effort on our part. You are not saved by keeping the Ten Commandments. You are not saved by giving money. You are not saved by being a good person. You are not saved by the sweat of your brow, but by the grace of Almighty God."
I really like that header picture! Grace makes a pretty cute nerd. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't like coffee - can you believe it?
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
ReplyDeleteHis Grace is all that we need! Amen!
Good luck to Aryn and her team! She looks too cute to be nerdy, but I like her outfit anyway! :)
We don't have a fireplace. When we were looking at houses, our realtor told us to forget the fireplace in Florida. The wood piles attract bugs, spiders, rats and snakes. That's all I needed to hear! We did have one in Virginia, that we rarely used.
We use our Keurig coffee maker exclusively now and like Daily Chef Colombia Supremo (Fair Trade) the best. I have used Seattle's Best coffee, though, and we liked it a lot.
Have a good Tuesday! (Great background - maybe you were sitting and looking up?).
Love the pic of your grandaughter. I also the the backgrounds here. Still overcast & looks like 90% chance of rain tomorrow, quite chilly as well. No more short weather, I do believe summer is gone here, lol. Heading on the downslide now, lol.--I usually buy Master Blend (blue can- or is it Master Cut? Can't remember and since it is a long walk downstairs, lol.). Coffee here is cheap, $5.65 for the Master Blend. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI love your top photo. You took it? Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGrayce looks so cute as a nerd. I like her glasses. :)
Good luck to Aryn and her team tonight. Let us know what happens. I'd also love to see them go on to state.
We have a gas fireplace and use it only when the power goes out and we have no furnace. It does a great job of heating the house on a winter day. I can add another hint for the firewood........ do NOT stack the cut wood outside against the house foundation. The wood could contain termites, thus you'll have them move into your house. My daughter's husband learned that the hard way.
I've never seen that brand of coffee around here. I buy Folger's ½Caff. We drink a lot of coffee but the caffeine wasn't agreeing with me anymore and hubby doesn't like decaf, so we compromised. It's mild but we like it.
Hope you're having a great day.
