Holiday time is a supposed to be an exciting, happy time, right?  Do you ever get depressed or blue, or stressed?  We have made it such a busy, expensive time, that the 'fun' has almost gone out of it.  People seem to have anything they want and have already bought it through the year.  And the kids, whoa...they want it all and whatever it is, costs way beyond possible.

We had a scare last night at church.  One of our new families has three children and one of the boys was missing after school.  The Mother and I have become friends and she came to me, crying and telling me they couldn't find him.  Her husband and other children had stayed home in case they heard from him.  I told her to turn around and go home...God would understand.  My Pastor's wife told her God gave her those children and to go.  She did, but came back in about 15 minutes.  Her husband had called and the boy was home.  It was a misunderstanding in his ride home from basketball practice.  Gave us all chills, but God answered quickly this time.

Our son spent most of the morning yesterday, taking down the storm windows, and washing them, then washing the old windows, inside and out, that were never taken down, and replacing.  Wow, I never realized how much we were missing...lol  He plans to go completely around the house, cleaning all the windows. That is the best Christmas gift anyone could give us!

It rained much of last night and I am sure most of the leaves that were left on the trees, are now on the ground. The following pictures were taken right before.....we definitely have beautiful colors in the fall.

On top of Signal Mtn., looking toward the Tennessee River and Lookout Mtn. in the distance.

On top of Lookout Mtn., looking down the Incline Railway, which does go from top to bottom, and at times, it feels like it is straight down!

This blog is a hodge podge of things.  I found the following picture on a site I was reading yesterday.  I would love to have a cat marked this way...
Ok, I have rambled long enough.  Have a good Thursday, and even though this may have seemed a 'downer' post, I am thankful for so many things, and good hot coffee is one of them!.

  1. That has to be about the best gift anyone could get. The gift of self and his time to help you out. Now you'll be able to (spy on the neighbors) oh I mean watch nature unfold before you. What ever your view is outside those window, enjoy seeing it clearly!!

  2. Ah, yes, the Incline..loved it..I think my fav. is Rock City though. You know..we are blessed that Liam doesn't want (beg) for anything..Oh I am sure he wants stuff..but he is really a good kid..he was really worried about the laptop situation, as he knows money is hard to come by & even mentioned he was sorry to put us out money wise..but God always works things out, doesn't he?--I am glad the missing child situation worked out..been there before too..scary..have a blessed day dear friend..

  3. Our church's youth group is washing windows to raise money of a mission trip. Mine are so dirty that I hate to even think about anyone else trying to clean them! My policy is to just leave the blinds and curtains closed! So bad!! What a great gift from Murphy, though!

So happy to hear the young boy was found and is okay!! That had to be just terrifying for the family.

Good to get you news! The photos of your beautiful fall colors are just breath-taking!

  4. I've been asking my family to give that gift too, but so far they aren't listening. Pat that boy on the back from me LOL! I'm glad the boy was found safe.

  6. Bob and I were just talking about what we can do this Christmas when it comes to the kids. Each year it gets harder and harder. We can't do it anymore. It can be depressing, if I let myself. I have to keep telling myself, it's not the gifts (they'll just have to understand), it's about being together as a family.
Thank God the boy was ok. That's such a horrible scare.
What a thoughtful son you have! Bless his heart. I wish I had a son like that. My windows are awful, but neither one of us can get on a ladder anymore, so I continue to look through the haze. :(
I love your pictures. The countryside is gorgeous.
The cat is amazing. He's pretty, but he certainly can't hide the fact that he's bi-racial. hehehe
Hope you're having a good day.
