RAMBLING THOUGHTS
Good Saturday morning, and yes, it is good. We have so much to be thankful for that when it comes down to it, and you think about it, it almost makes you ashamed. God has given me far beyond anything I deserve and I can't praise Him enough.
So proud that my children are teaching their children to be thankful also. One took their 2 little girls trick or treating, but at the same time, they collected $40.00 for UNICEF. A good lesson to be sure.
Jim and I took a drive yesterday afternoon on top of the mountain behind our house. As we drove around the lake up there, I didn't realize how much the leaves have changed their colors. Seems like it was overnight. It is beautiful.
Today is a special day. The Christian school that my children attended closed after many years, and today they are having a reunion. Children, parents, teachers and anyone that had anything to do with the school are invited and they got 150+ RSVP's. It is going to be casual and BBQ will be served. I am looking forward to going and seeing everyone. It was at the church Jim and I attend now, so we get to see many of those that were involved, but there are some coming from as far as Florida and Indiana. We have 3 teachers that I know of, that are missionaries on foreign fields and they wont be able to be with us, but will with us in thought. Pictures to follow.
This old wrapped up hand is still giving me a fit! The swelling has gone down, but if I try to open a door, even turn off a light switch, a shooting pain hits. I will be so glad to get the dressing off and hopefully stitches out on Monday.

You're going to have a fun day! Have a great time and be careful of your hand. :)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! I haven't thought of UNICEF in years. I collected money for UNICEF when I was a kid, Linda. Had no idea it was still around! What a fun day you will have, with the reunion! I can't wait to hear about it and see the pictures you take! Please, please be careful with that hand! Monday is coming!! Prayers continue!
ReplyDeleteI love your little 5:00 kitty. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same as you... we are so blessed. I think it's great how your grand-daughters are being taught not to be greedy. So many of the trick-or-treaters we saw were grabbing hands full. And that was the older ones and adults! It was horrible.
Today's school reunion sounds like a good time. Have fun.
We do have a lot to be thankful for, and not just material things or our relative safety living in America. But like my husband always reminds me when I'm lamenting that "Golly, I wish something GOOD would happen!". He'll retort, "But honey, Jesus loves us. Everyday is a good day." That one always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThe reunion will be grand fun. Get togethers like that are always something to be thankful for. And I'll also be thankful when your hand quits hurting. You're doing really well for still recovering from such invasive surgery. God is indeed good!
Have a wonderful weekend y'all! ~:)
Sounds like a good day at the reunion. You are in my prayers Linda..so thankful to have such wonderful bloggy friends. Blessings
DeleteWe have a cat that likes to meow us awake - - - whenever she feels like it no matter how early the hour. I generally throw a pillow at her to make her stop. It works.
ReplyDeleteWill you have to do physical therapy with your hand? I so much remember those pains after my knee surgery. Probably the scraping of the frayed ACL is what caused so much tenderness. Tendons/ligaments do take some time to settle back down after trauma as you well know having been through this once before.
No Lynda, no PT with this; I did when I had both my knees replaced at the same time tho. Once I get the dressing removed and the stitches out, it should heal quickly. It has really been painful this go-round tho!
DeleteI'm sure you'll have a fantastic time at the reunion.
