7 DAYS AND COUNTING!

I am sure if you have children at home, or maybe grandchildren near by, you are excited to see their excitement.  Even though my children and my grands live in the same town, I don't get to see them often.  They are busy with their school activities, spending time with their friends, etc. and I understand.  At least, if Jim is well enough, we will see them all on Christmas morning.  We drive to all 3 of their homes to see what Santa has brought.

For the first time in my 72 years, I have not gotten the spirit or the excitement as in the past.  I haven't really cared if we put up a tree or not.  I haven't wanted to shop or wrap what I did buy.   I am in blah mode and don't know how to get out of it.  I think Jim being so sick is one of the things that has me preoccupied.  Sorry to be such a downer....:(

FUNNY THINGS YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE SAYS ABOUT YOU!

White lights: You ask house guests to remove their shoes.

Multicolored lights: You’re an extrovert

Blinking Lights: You have attention deficit disorder.
Homemade ornaments: You have lots of children.
Strung Popcorn: You have too much time on your hands.
Red balls only: You wish you lived in a department store.
Yellow star on top: You’re traditional.

Glowing Santa on top: You shop at Kitsch ‘R’ Us.

Cutoff top: You didn’t measure the tree.

Vague evergreen smell: You bought a healthy tree.
Strong evergreen smell: You sprayed your tree with Pine-Sol.
Just plain smelly: There’s a dead bird in your tree.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE!

  1. Christmas used to be my favorite holiday!! Lately its getting so commercial, with "The Reason for the Season" being missed total, I am slowly backing away from all the whoopla!!! May the Christ-child renew your spirits in the new year.

  3. I love the bit about the tree. That's funny.
I have that same blah feeling. I've tried music and getting our tree put up, but I just can't seem to get the spirit. Your picture at the top does more for me than anything else.
Praying Jim will get well soon. Hopefully he'll be well enough to get out and see the kids. God bless you both.

  4. Linda - I hope you feel the Christmas spirit when your family gathers round. I think the last few months have been too stressful for you to feel excited, but I know you celebrate Christs birth everyday!

  5. I sure hope Jim is feeling well enough for you both to visit all the kids on Christmas morning. What a nice tradition, and how blessed to have them all close enough to be able to do that!

I've had a few years like that, Linda, feeling down with little or no holiday hoopla. Your photo, with the wise men following that star, says it all, though. The ultimate gift, given to us freely if we only accept it. Hallelujah!! Hugs, love and prayers for you, from me!

  8. That was a funny list about the Christmas Trees! I don't know what category I'm in this year.

I'm kinda blah too but it's for economic reasons. All the oppression and lawlessness from our government is weighing on my usual cheerful spirit. So sorry Jim is still ill. I pray this trial will pass y'all by soon and everything will be happy and light again. Maybe having the grandkids around you during the Holiday will makes things seem better. And things will improve because as you know too, God is still in control. We shall all cling to that truth.

    God bless. ~:)

  9. I too don't have the "spirit". I'm listening to Christmas music, still working on my cards, the kids are coming tomorrow, the house is not clean... and the worst of it is I don't care. I want to see my family, I want to enjoy Christmas, I'm just not into all the to-do of it all. Maybe that's ok?

I hope you find a way to enjoy the next few days even if it isn't in a traditional way.
