BOOKS

With all the bad weather around the country, there is not much to do, other than stay inside and read or knit, etc.  I am reading "Children of the Plantation" by Faith Mortimer.  It is a mystery, which is normally what I like to read, but this one hasn't held my attention, so may have to put it on the back burner and choose another....thus, asking you for recommendations.

My daughter and two granddaughters and I,are going to brunch at a new restaurant that just opened, called Tupelo Honey.  It is at Warehouse Row (a group of old warehouse buildings that have been restored downtown) and brings its eclectic take on the Southern plate. In recent years, Warehouse Row has lured some of the region’s best independent retailers to Chattanooga’s urban core and transformed the shopping destination into a mix of fine retail stores and restaurants. Pictures to follow.

Have a nice Saturday and remember to smile!

  1. Now that picture DID make me smile! So cute. And it is bitter cold further south from y'all too. Brrrr!

I enjoy books. Real books, not the cyber ones. I love to feel their paper in my hands. Smell the print. Treasure the thoughts that someone took the time to put to paper. I'm an avid reader. Our house is full of books.

The Tupelo Honey sounds like our kind of restaurant. All those warm, friendly southern smells. Yum. Reminds me of growing up.

Now I'm hungry again! [ha ha] Must be the weather.

    God bless. ~:)

  2. The new restaurant sounds wonderful! Can't wait for your review!

I am still reading the Outlander books. There are seven, and an eighth is due out soon. I am on the fifth. They have pulled me into old Scotland, and now pre-Revolution America. Historical novels, and not mysteries (which are usually my favorite, too) but the characters have been so well developed that I feel like I know them. The books are long (600-1000 pages), so I have been reading them for awhile now. Have a great weekend, Linda!

  3. Hi Linda.... I love your new background... lots of books! I love books too, but now I'm hooked on the e-books. Sometimes I miss that feel of paper too.
I'm reading a good mystery, until he had to throw in some sex. Not what I want to read but I'd like to find out who's killing all the women so I skip through those VERY FAST! LOL
Your Warehouse Row sounds interesting and a great idea. It's too bad all the cities won't do that... like Detroit? Nah, there's no hope for that city.
I hope you have a great weekend.
