I saw something on television, the national news last night, that stunned me I guess you could say. According to that report, there will be a new college class on Beyonce. The course (called Dept. of Women's and Gender Studies) explores the control that Beyonce has over her own aesthetic (like her alter ego, Sasha Fierce), and whether the narrative she’s creating is one of an empowered or stereotypical woman. The course is dedicated entirely to Beyoncé, using her career and music to explore issues of race, gender, and sexual politics.
I don't understand what benefit the course could give, and really why anyone would waste their time taking it.
However, on the same note, I received an email from a friend last night on "Interesting Historical Photos". One of the pictures made me think of the article on Beyonce.
The extraordinary life of Maud Allen: Seductive US dancing girl who was sued for being too lewd, was outed as a lesbian, and fled London after being branded a German spy who was sleeping with the prime minister's wife. Guess times haven't changed much after all!
I was 'sick as a dog' all afternoon and night yesterday....couldn't eat supper or anything. Managed to get a diet coke down and it must have worked, settled my stomach, because I was finally able to sleep and feel much better this morning. Getting old isn't fun. Everyday is a new ailment...lol
I am getting out of the house for the first time this week and feel excited...

The class on Beyonce reminds me of the 80's when colleges were offering a class on Madonna. Really? I wouldn't waste my tuition dollars!! ReplyDeleteI love the little puppy photo in his nightwear. Soon be time to pick up Granddaughter for school. Today was my second time to get out this week. Took Granddaughter to school, also did on Monday. School was closed on Tuesday, she had a two hour delay on Wed. and her Mother was off work, so she took her and also yesterday her mother too her. Her Mother had to work today, 12 hour shift at the hospital.

t was snowing lightly when i came out of grocery, also made a stop at the bank, post-office and pharmacy before I did the shopping. Got home about 11:15 and one of our daughter was home, she had to take their one cat that was put to sleep last night, to have him cremated, so we ran into one another at the grocery and she helped me unload and put the items away. That was a big help.
Hope you keep on feeling better and not be feeling bad over the week-end.

It was a beautiful day to be outside! Traffic was a bit heavier on the road and more than just a normal Friday heavy. That is super crazy about the college class but then there are lots of super crazy people in this world anymore. Glad your stomach got better fairly quickly. There is a wicked stomach virus going around - - has put some people in the ER. Both of your pics are fun.
