TEN THOUGHT TUESDAY AND OTHER STUFF!!!

Dreaming of an El Niño Winter?

El Niño (Spanish for “Little Boy) occurs when the Tropical Pacific is unusually warm, more than 0.5˚C or 0.9˚F hotter than average. It heats the air above it, which allows the atmosphere to hold more moisture.

El Niños bring warmer weather north and cooler weather south.  El Niños normally make the northern states and Canada warmer and the southern states and Mexico wetter. Confusing, isn’t it!

El Niño isn’t the only pattern that shapes winter. If an Arctic Oscillation is in a negative mood, it will be cold. The Arctic Oscillation is the king of winter, and a “little boy” cannot fight a king.

So, if you love shoveling snow off your sidewalks, this winter may disappoint you. If you like cool but not frigid weather, El Niño may be your best friend.

Am I crazy to be talking "winter"?  There are 69 days until Christmas and it will be here before you blink twice.

Do you shop early?  Do you shop online or at the mall?

1) Gonna be a sunshiny day.

2) Do you buy and carve a pumpkin?

3) Jim went with me yesterday to buy groceries, and it helped my attitude!

4) Jim went to church with me last night and says he will go again tonight.  We attend different churches, but it was nice to have him with me.

5) Elizabeth has bronchitis and Jenn stayed home yesterday and will stay again today to make sure she gets well before going back to daycare.

6) My Leigh has two girls - Aryn 14, and Grayce 11.  A. is an athlete and "tom boy" of sorts; G. is a girly girl and they are giving my daughter a slow nervous breakdown!  (not)

7) We will have 4 new missionaries at the service tonight and I am so looking forward to hearing from them.

8) I am watching Kelly and Michael as I type and they are showing a 24 inch gourd.  WOW!

9) Cali, my cat, continues to turn her water and food bowls over....sigh.

10)Wishing you a very happy day with "sunshine and lollipops!"

  1. Hi Linda! No, I don't carve a pumpkin for Halloween anymore. I'm happy that Jim went to church with you!! Yay! I like having Joe with me at the grocery, too. That way, he is invested in what I will be preparing! Have you tried bottled water for Cali? Maybe she doesn't like the chemicals in your tap water? Just a thought I had. It's usually dogs who turn over the bowls. Short of using a rack for the bowls, and screwing it to a board, I really don't have any more suggestions. Maybe she just wants you to know who is boss! LOL

  2. Hi Linda, I apologize for being behind on commenting. Do you have a couple of bricks that you could put on either side of Cali's bowls? I like for John to go with me grocery shopping so that he can see from week to week how much grocery costs are rising!!!!! We don't decorate much for Halloween these days. I know you are looking forward to the missionaries talks tonight at church. Have a nice evening.

  6. That sounds like the winter we had in Ohio last year and I'll admit... I liked it. I hate snow and freezing temps. I'm hoping for another mild winter.
Bob went grocery shopping with me yesterday and it always helps my mood too. Why should I be the only to suffer?
We don't do the pumpkins. I thought pumpkin came in a can. lol
I wish I was able to hear the missionaries too. It can be quite a blessing.
Hope you have a great week (what's left of it) And that your girls get well soon.
