We don't dare go out and get on the roads tonight. With as much meanness that goes on when it isn't a special holiday night, I can only imagine what will happen out there tonight. We will do our usual, watch tv shows, snack, and hit the hay! I haven't seen the ball drop in Times Square for many years now, and the new year came in just the same.
Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The
year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
~Alfred,
Lord Tennyson, 1850

That's our usual new years eve too. We used to party with friends when we were young, but not anymore. We stay home, mainly for the same reasons as you. Then add slippery roads to that and we have the recipe for disaster.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy new year full of blessings for you and your family.
We will be doing the same thing tonight. If the fireworks don't wake me I will be snoozing in the new year. Praying for you a wonderful 2013 with many blessings. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWe have never gone out on NYEve...too dangerous, and now we're too old and tired, anyway. We usually do make it long enough to see the ball drop, but then we go right to bed. I want to watch the tribute to Dick Clark, which starts at 8:00. I grew up with Dick Clark's American Band Stand. Wishing you a blessed, safe, healthy and happy 2013, Linda! Love & hugs.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Linda!! I will just be here at my daughter's home in Florida watching the grandson's bring in the New Year if I can stay awake until then. I guess my party days are over..no big loss.
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy Happy New Year to you my dear friend!! Wishing you and Jim much happiness, and good health for the new year!!
