UN-WORDLESS WEDNESDAY!

Jim and I took a ride yesterday to a nearby town, Dayton, Tennessee.  This is the little town where the Scopes Monkey Trial was held way back when!

That is about all one can say for this little country town.  Oh, there is a brand new hospital there, and my son in law is the CFO (Chief Financial Officer).

After leaving the downtown area, we decided to drive home on the back roads.  You can always see so much more on these 2 lane roads than on the interstate.  Tennessee is such a beautiful state, as we have mountains, rivers, lakes, and just about anything else you can think of to see.  Everything is so green right now.

Jim asked if I had ever seen the McDonald Farm, which I had not, so off we went in that direction.  Roy McDonald is or was the owner of the Chattanooga Times/News Free Press newspaper, and his home has always been called "Old McDonald's Farm".  Needless to say, I was not disappointed.  The land, the cattle, the mountains behind, and the house (which I didn't get a picture of) was just as expected.

The field was covered with those early yellow flowers as you can see, and the black cattle really show up.  I have no idea how many acres, but many!

As soon as I finish this, I am headed to the Sprint store to pickup my new phone and then more porch time when we get home!  Church tonight.

  3. That is a huge, but beautiful farm. It IS peaceful to look at! Hope you got your new phone, and you like it! Your porch sounds like Heaven to me. I miss a front porch, and the old swing we had when I was growing up! A rocker would work just as well, however!! :) Enjoy your evening, Linda!
