Things are pretty quiet around here, especially with Jim. We took a ride yesterday afternoon, and bless his heart, he fell again, but caught himself before he went all the way to the floor. He uses his walker faithfully now, but even that isn't 100% safe for him. If he continues to go down in the next two months, as much as he has in the last, he will be in the bed for sure.
The good old days...............
(1964 - Notice how everyone is dressed to go out?
Not in their pajama pants and slippers!!)
I guess I just got nostalgic thinking about growing up, being with my family, etc. My parents divorced when I was three years old and I never saw or heard from my Dad again, but I lived with my Mother, Grandmother, 2 Aunts and an Uncle, and I had a happy, fun youth. They all had an impact on my life, taught me many things that I would need when I was an adult. So, Father's Day to me is more like' Family Day'!I am thankful however, that my three children did grow up with a Dad in their life. A Dad who worked hard, was a strict disciplinarian, but also fair. A Dad who enjoyed being with his family and made sure they had what they needed and more. A Dad who loved to travel and took his family wherever he went - north, south, west and east. Happy Father's Day to Jim or as the nicknames go in our family, 'Lloyd'. They called him that, and me 'Lint' after they grew up. Everyone had a nickname and Jim gave them to everyone.
Church for me this morning and I look forward to hearing God's Word taught and preached. Hope you can attend the church of your choice as well.
Happy Sunday, Linda... hope you're having a good day. I always enjoy looking at the "old photos" but that era you've chosen today is my childhood memories, as I'm sure they are for you too. Yep, we were never allowed to leave the house until we were "properly dressed".
ReplyDeleteI'm also glad my girls grew up with a father there to discipline and teach. I didn't have that either.
You take care. ♥
We sure have a lot in common, dont we? lol
ReplyDeleteI well remember dressing up to go out for dinner, or even shopping! These days 'we' don't even dress up for church. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI was blessed to grow up with a loving and devoted dad, and I miss him, even these 24 years without him.
I'm glad to hear Jim was able to catch himself and not fall down all the way.
Wishing you a good week ahead, Linda!!
I see far too many people dressed in their pj's all of the time. Sad!
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day, Jim.
ReplyDeleteKnow that I pray for you each night..,,
I love nostalgic ! My husband and I were listening to music by Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole when he was putting together the club house play set. It's some before my time but I love the songs
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Jim fell. Prayers for him
