Good morning to one and all! Summer is here - no doubt about it, with temps near or in the 90's, lots of sunshine, flowers blooming and bees buzzing!
My title picture this morning is of our walking bridge across the Tennessee River downtown. It is the Walnut Street Bridge and I can remember when it was a traffic bridge, but rather than tear it down, they stopped autos from using it, and opened it up to foot traffic only. There are many events held on the bridge now.
I have walked many miles across and back in days past, but these days, I just cant do it. My best friend and I used to meet around 7 am and walk while it was still fairly cool in the summer months, but we still bundled up and walked it in winter too! You get wonderful views of Chattanooga, or good views when the rowers are on the river. You can see the Hunter Museum of Art, the Delta Queen Riverboat Hotel, the park with the carousel, kids playing in the park, so it is never ever boring to walk there.
Jim update:
He had a spurt of energy yesterday afternoon after the physical therapist came. Before I even knew he was out, he had managed to get to his pickup truck and was out back at the small garden, looking at the tomatoes and cucumbers. Somehow, he had managed to get in the truck, put his walker in the bed and drive. It scares me to death for fear he will fall or not be strong enough to even put the brakes on, but I do the best I can to make sure he is safe. When he pulls something like that, I am at a loss and guess I am just here to pick up the pieces. (Emotionally drained)
Oldest daughter and her family are home from Florida, but middle daughter and her family will leave in the morning for Florida and a weeks vacation.
Question: Why was the giant Goliath very much astonished when David hit him with a stone?
Answer: Because such a thing had never entered his head before.
We have a walking bridge in Grand Rapids, which crosses the Grand River that looks remarkably similar. It's also painted blue and has the same sort of history.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Jim is ok - and you too!
The view of the bridge and surrounding area must be beautiful. I'd love to walk it too and see everything that you get to see. My little town right now is full of torn up streets, construction equipment and plowed fields as far as the eye can see. Before long those fields will be high in corn and you won't be able to see anything else. But that's alright.... God bless the farmers. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Jim's PT will do him some good. Maybe it also gave him a more positive attitude that he's still able to do some things and doesn't have to sit and give up. God bless him.
I know you're emotionally drained. Anyone would be in your place. You take good care of Linda. She's important to me. Lord, be with her. Love and hugs, my friend
I wish we had a walking bridge like this near us! I can imagine how stressed you must feel when Jim decides to do things like this on his own. On the bright side..I bet it was great to see him have this extra energy! Have a wonderful weekend, Linda!
ReplyDeleteChattanooga is such a pretty city. I couldn't walk across that bridge, either, with my stupid knees, but have seen it and know how great it must be.
ReplyDeleteSorry that Jim gave you yet another scare. Maybe he has decided to fight back and will start to show some improvement?! Keep us posted. You can only do what you can do, so don't beat yourself up about it when he 'escapes' and does something crazy. Love & hugs!!
Glad Jim is okay!
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers for Jim and his safety, but also for you as you cope with the unexpected.
