SECOND CHILDHOOD!

I think I may be there.....in my second childhood.  I want to sleep late and go to bed early.  I want to do what I want to do, not what I should be doing.  I make faces, and giggle more, and will stop anything I am doing to play with my grandchildren.  I love seeing and hearing Jim play with them too....he smiles more when they are here.....he loves to tease them.

Good Thursday morning.  I am thankful for so many things today.

1)  My grandchildren of course.  Aryn's team keeps winning and they play for the finals today at 11.  GO TN-XTREME....win it all - Battle of the Bayou!

2)  The mission team in Guyana.  Today is their last day and they head north tomorrow.  We are all anxious to have them back among us and to hear what great things God did through them.

3)  So thankful that God answers prayer....He really does and if you don't believe in prayer, just ask me and mine.

4)  Thankful to have gotten an answer at church last night.  You can read a book in the Bible one time, and then when you read it again, you see something you missed the first time.  Jesus is spoken of all through the New Testament, and some only study that portion of the Bible, saying the Old is just 'history' etc.  It is that and so much more.  Jesus is definitely spoken of in the Old Testament....see Isaiah 9:6 - "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God (Father and Son the same), The everlasting Father (Father and son the same), The Prince of Peace.  The Old is just as important as the New.  They cannot be separated, nor can the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

5)  Jim did make his pie and was so proud of it.....rightfully so, as it was delicious!

6)  Jim had sent his riding mower to be repaired and it needed several new parts, so off we went yesterday to get them.  While there, he purchased a new weed-eater.  After getting back home, I tried to lift the weed-eater out of the car and hurt my back.  If it isn't him, it is me.  I pray to God every day to let me stay well, and be able to take care of Jim.  As soon as I got home from church, I took a pain pill and went to bed.  I am thankful that I am better this morning, so hopefully I just sprained something.

7)  I am going to have my oil changed, fill the car with gas and have it run through the car wash today.  I am thankful I will be in a clean car for a while now.

8)  I am thankful for each and every one of my blog friends that pray for Jim and for me.  It means so much to know prayers are going up from all over the country and world.

9) Less humid, even tho hot, I am thankful!

10)Thankful all my bills will be paid today and paid via the Internet and I don't have to leave the comfort of my home and air conditioning!

  2. I guess I could say I'm in my second childhood too. I'd rather play than do my adult chores. My daughter has a saying.... "I don't like this adult stuff, don't want to do it anymore." (and she's 28 yrs. younger than me!)
I hate going to the gas station. It's definitely an expensive place to go. :( And there's no reason for it, except the Arabs know they have us in their control.
I'm glad Jim got to finish his pie. Hope he has a good day.
It's sad when people only see the Bible as just a book. It's not, as we know. It's alive. We can read verses over and over, but each time we'll see something new or read something that will speak to us in different ways, depending on our current situation. I love God's word.
I hope you're having a great day and your back doesn't give you any pain today. Be careful.
    God bless you both. ♥

  3. Every morning, when my alarm goes off at 5:00 a.m., I find myself thinking longingly of retirement and no alarm clocks! This must be the beginning of my second childhood - wanting to sleep and not set an alarm. I doubt I would sleep until noon (like some teenagers) but it would be nice to be able to sleep until noon if I wanted to!

So glad Jim got his pie baked!! Sorry about your back, and hope it is continuing to feel better. Great news about Aryn's team! Joe took my car in for an oil change today, so I had to drive his car to work. Blessed to have two vehicles and Joe to do the running!

As for the Old Testament and the New Testament, we talked about this on Multiply, I think. When I did that Bible study that was chronological, it made so much sense and brought the two together so seamlessly. You really can't have one without the other!

  6. Your header shot for today is just adorable!
I pray your back feels better quickly. You don't realize how much you move your back till it's hurt.
I love how you get something new from the Bible each time you read a passage.
