Have you ever seen an olive tree? I haven't and when I saw this one, I had to save it to share. I am a huge 'olive lover' - green, black, stuffed, un-stuffed, I love them.
All olives left on the tree will eventually ripen to black. "Green ripe olives" are picked at a certain stage of development, when the juice inside turns from clear to milky. Olives to be used for oil are left on the tree until at least some color change has occurred. "Black ripe olives" can be ripened on the tree or turned black in processing, as with "California Black Ripe Olives."
Do you think of Bible times when you see or think of olives. I do. Olive oil was crucial to the economy and daily living of the Hebrews. It was used for lighting, cooking, medicinal purposes, and moisturizing skin. Although black when ripe, olives were harvested for oil production while still green. Harvesters would use sticks and beat the branches causing the fruit to fall.
Good Friday morning to all. Hope you can be a blessing to someone today. The group from my church headed to Guyana, S. A., left town at 5 am, headed for the Atlanta airport, where they will fly to Miami, have a layover, and then fly straight to Guyana, arriving around 9:30 tomorrow night. Please remember them in your prayers.
I have no special plans today, other than being 'on call' to pick up my grandson from the babysitter, in case his Mother (DIL) doesn't get back from her job interview in Knoxville, TN. My son usually works until 7 or 7:30 on Fridays as it is his busiest day of the week. I am praying this is the right job for her. She would be in Knoxville 3 days a week for a couple of months to train, and once they feel she is comfortable, she will work from home, which would be a tremendous help. My 5 year old grandson will start kindergarten this fall and my granddaughter will be going to a new school. It would make it easier for her to be working from home.
So, enjoy your weekend, be safe, and God bless you and yours.

Praying for the job for your Daughter in Law. I do hope that this is the perfect one for her and that she will be able to work from home.
ReplyDeleteYes. I've seen olive trees in Spain. It was an incredible sight to see them from the air as we flew in to Southern Spain. We want to grow one here (South Georgia)...and my Father in Law was successful in doing that years ago, but we haven't been successful (yet.) They are beautiful to me...
Love,
Jackie
P.S. My Grandson starts Kindergarten this fall, too. What an exciting time in our Grands' lives!
DeleteI've only seen pictures of the olive trees. I always find them fascinating. They're so unusual. I always think of the Bible days when I see them.
ReplyDeletePraying your mission group has a safe trip and God's blessing on them while they're there.
Hope your DIL's new job works out for her. I know the whole family will benefit having her home, especially the children. God bless them.
You have a great day. ♥
I have never seen an olive tree in person, but (like you, Sis) love, love, love olives in any shape or color! Offered a prayer for your DIL that she gets this job!! Please keep us posted. Your mission group is also in my prayers, Linda. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting about olives, Where was this tree? Wonder if the weather in your area would allow you to grow one?
ReplyDeletePrayers for your DIL and her job interview and praying its where GOD would want her to be.
Thank you for your visit to my blog and following.
WIll do the same!
GOD keep you safe!
Very interesting looking tree in your header. I have not seen an olive tree but in pictures. I like ripe black olives and ripe green olives. I believe olives are good for us and should be used a lot in our diets. Pray all works out well for your daughter-in-law and that she really likes the job. Have a wonderful weekend sweet Linda. Hugs and blessings
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an olive tree, but I do like olives. Hope your daughter-in-law gets the job.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
The job for you DIL sounds ideal, I do hope she gets it. I do think of the Bible when I see or eat olives! I love olives too...green stuffed ones are my favorite though. I have just recently discovered how good olive oil is for you...stands to reason since they've used it so much back then.
