Back to me sleeping late. If a door opens and shuts or a car engine and car door sound, this old gal is awake. The least little noise wakes me and I am not one to stay in bed - I have to get up! So there will be nap time sometime today.
We are having a prayer vigil at church from 8 am til 6 pm today in preparation of our Missions Conference that begins tomorrow. Sixteen Missionaries from around the world will be speaking, giving us information about their individual countries, and the work there. We are affiliated with H.E.L.P. Ministries. We all look forward to this year and since Jim has become a part of the church, he will get to enjoy it too! Each Sunday School class is providing lunch each day they are with us and mine class is having soup/chili, cornbread/crackers and a dessert. I am to make vegetable soup and my son is making a 'honey bun' cake for me to take. It was his speciality when he was in the restaurant business. I don't think I have ever made soup for 75 people, but there are 8 of us cooking so it wont be so hard.
It is going to be a busy week ahead so may not be able to post much. Sunday through Wednesday at 10 am
and 7 pm, we will have services at church. Monday is when our class cooks and provides lunch. On Tuesday I am having surgery (outpatient) on my left thumb, so definitely will be out of commission on that day and possibly days after that. Hard to type with one hand. The joint will be replaced in my thumb and is painful. I have already had the right thumb joint replaced and I can stand a little pain for a short time, to get rid of the severe pain I have almost constantly. I laugh and say, after having both knees replaced and now will have thumbs replaced, I may be the bionic woman and leap tall buildings with a single bound!!! Not sure what else can be replaced....:-)So, I wish you a good weekend, and week or so ahead. I will keep you posted on the surgery when I can....

Prayers for your surgery. I'm so happy to read that Jim is doing so much better and out enjoying life again.
ReplyDeleteLook out world...here she comes!!! Praying that your surgery will be successful, pain minimal and recovery speedy. God Bless!

"God is so good. God is so good. God is so good; He's so good to me!
He answers prayer. He answers prayer. He answers prayer; He's so good to me!"
Love,
Jackie
Amen, Jackie!
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best of luck on your thumb surgery. Hope it goes as well as the other hand. All I have ever had done is carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand and the tendons or what ever snipped for my middle finger, I couldn't close it down with the other fingers when i tried to make a fist. It closes now.
ReplyDeleteMy head is all healed and the bruises are all gone.
Glad your husband has recuperated enough to go out hunting with the fellows.
Have a good week-end.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. It's going to be just fine. That's great news that Jim is able to get out and enjoy himself again. Praise the Lord.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you are in my prayers and I will look for that short message from you, saying the surgery went well. Praise God. And praise God, too, that Jim got to go hunting. I know how important that is for him. Let us know (when you can) if he had a good time! Enjoy the services this week, too. God bless the Missionaries who give up so much to help others. I will pray for them, too.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful that Jim can hunt again. I love to go too but am so unsuccessful in the hunt I just call it "Walking in the woods with guns". [ha ha] All the deer are safe around me but not by my design. I'm better with small game and birds, for some reason. Maybe I suffer from Buck Fever? [smile]
ReplyDeleteThe soup sounds yummy. Wish we could all try it. Today is cool and overcast. Homemade soup would be just the ticket.
Having one's hands hurt is so crippling. I've had Carpal Tunnel Surgery on both hands. Before the surgery I was in constant pain. Typing was definately a trial. Just my opinion, but I would rest the paws for a little while after the surgery. Trying to work through the pain can cause additional damage (what the Doc told me). Please do take it easy. And we'll all be praying for you, count on that. Even if we neglect to pray, Jesus will be with you always. By the way, something I do before surgery, y'all probably do this too, is take time to pray and mediate on the love of Jesus Christ. HE loves us so much! I tell myself "I trust and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ". This helps me to feel His loving presence and makes me calmer for the surgeon. HE never abandons us. Never.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. God bless. ~:)
