Lots of people don't teach their children about Santa Claus, and of course it is their option. We did, and even when they got older and realized it was just a fun thing, they continued to 'play like' he came and visited them on Christmas Eve. At our house, either Jim or I got up first, and then we woke all three children and went to the living room or den at the same time. It was a fun time.
Yes, we definitely taught them the true meaning of Christmas and that Christ was first and foremost in our lives. They knew Him and worshipped Him. If Christmas came on Sunday, we always went to church to worship and thank Him for being born and coming into our lives.
What was or is your tradition on Christmas morning?
My 12 year old granddaughter, Grayce, went to her soccer team's Christmas party, which was a rock climbing fun time. She said it hurt her hands, but she was able to do it!
Tonight Aryn has a basketball game, but Jesse also has his Christmas program at his school. We chose to go to Jesse's program as we can go to many ballgames, but only one program for a 6 year old little boy. We were predicted to have a few snow flurries, but as yet, I haven't seen one. All I see is a very grey sky. If we did get a few, it sure would make it look even more like Christmas around here!
Stay warm, and have a good Tuesday. I am thankful for my friends here.

Love going to those grade school programs. Those kids are so sincere in their performance. So fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, totally agree with your Christmas understanding. Love those grade school programs..we are expecting a foot of lake snow effect this weekend (off of Lake Erie). It also has been snowing this morning too. No sun here today at all. Blessings
ReplyDeleteWe love Santa in this house...
ReplyDeleteAnd we love the Baby Jesus even more! : )
I think it is so very easy to incorporate the two together...
Santa chose Christmas Eve to visit...the most special, holy night of the year...the birth of Baby Jesus...
Santa is part of the magic of childhood, and as such brings magical wonderful memories for children and adults alike.
I think he is the spirit of giving embodied, and therefore,a more concrete example for easily relatable to children.
Besides that...Santa is plain fun!!!
Ok, enough...sorry!
Thanks for sharing and I love the background today!!!
I say 'Ditto'!
ReplyDeleteWe never did the Santa Claus thing, just because neither of us grew up with it. We have pictures of the kids sitting on his lap though - that was a yearly tradition.
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing and blowing like crazy here. Have fun at your program tonight!
We had Santa at our house, and with a sister 9 years younger than me, I believed in Santa well into my later teens... I still believe in Santa, by the way. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you chose well, going to the Christmas program to see Jesse. Can't wait to hear about it!! I LOVE your 'decorations' today, Linda! You find the best backgrounds!!!
Our girls believed in Santa until the Christmas Eve their parents fell asleep an didn't wake up until the 3 of them came in crying to wake us up.... Santa forgot them! I dug everything out of the closet and that was the death of Santa Claus. I felt so bad for them.
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever miss on the grandkid's programs but we have missed a game or two. Have a good time.
Oh my, that's a Christmas I bet you all remember!
DeleteI grew up believing in Santa but we chose not to go that route with our kids. Our Christmases were full with church plays and school programs. I miss those days a bit.
