Each of us have things in our lives that seem unbearable at times. I have a dear precious friend that is struggling to die. I know that sounds backwards, but she is 85, has had cancer all over her body for 20+ years and just cannot die. She is at peace, is ready and yet her body hangs on. I have a son who works very hard, tries very hard, and yet just cannot get ahead financially and it is causing problems in his marriage; I have one daughter who "says" she doesnt believe in God; and on and on and on. But, my friends, none of these things are equal to what God will bring on those who turn their backs on Him and His people, Israel.
Let's pray for Israel, and pray for each other in our own "desert" lands.
Day #20: I am thankful that I live in a country that allows me to pray in public, thank my God in public, and bear witness with other believers. I just pray that these privileges last til He comes.
Thanksgiving History lesson!
Thanksgiving became a U.S. holiday in 1863. In that year, during the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln made his Thanksgiving Day Proclamation. He asked his fellow citizens to “to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise. . . .”
It was not until 1941 that the U.S. Congress designated the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day, thus creating a federal holiday. (In Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated the second Monday in October.)
Turkey Trivia!
A male turkey is called a tom, a female is a hen, and a youngster is a poult. Only male turkeys, or toms, can gobble!
Ben Franklin recommended that the turkey replace the eagle as our national bird.
The loose red skin attached to the underside of a gobbler’s beak is called a wattle, and the fleshy flap hanging over the beak is called a snood. Both change color when the male gobbler is excited!
Yes, turkeys can fly, albeit short distances.
So, I will fly away and wish you a Happy Day!
Good morning, Linda. Yes, we must pray for Israel. Such turmoil in the world, and all because so many have lost their belief in God.
ReplyDeletePraying for Israel, and for your family, Linda. I'll keep them tucked in my heart with daily prayers. Count on it.
Love & hugs.
Thank you Terri, and I know I can always count on you to pray with me. We all have things on our hearts, but it helps to know someone is praying along side of us. And you are right, the troubles around the world, are because we have gotten so far away from God, with "well it is just done that way now days." No it isnt.
ReplyDeletePraying with you, Linda.
