How much time do we take to really digest and assimilate what God has given us? If you don’t have time to do this, you are too busy! Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). If you’re not careful, you are going to miss life looking for it.

This really describes me at times.  I feel I go round in circles, trying to do this or that or getting it all done.  I feel I have to be all things to all people, but usually end up feeling guilty because I cant.

God has blessed me so abundantly and at the tender age of 71, I definitely need to slow down and appreciate it.  I have a great family, a great church, food to eat, a roof over my head and no debt to worry about.

WOW, I don't know where all that came from!

Those of us who enjoy football and in the south, follow the SEC, had a really good game to watch yesterday afternoon.  Alabama vs. Georgia and Bama came away the winner, but both teams put on a good show.  Alabama will now play Notre Dame for the BCS Championship.  When it got close to the end, I had to leave the room......it was so exciting and I get tooooo nervous!

My church had a choir clinic on Friday and Saturday and I am looking forward to hearing what they learned and enjoying the new songs this morning.

I want to see something really cheap!

After being away on business for a week before Christmas, Tom thought it would be nice to bring his wife a little gift.Christmas Santa
"How about some perfume?" he asked the cosmetics clerk. She showed him a bottle costing $50.

"That's a bit much," said Tom, so she returned with a smaller bottle for $30.

"That's still quite a bit," Tom groused.

Growing disgusted, the clerk brought out a tiny $15 bottle.

Tom grew agitated, "What I mean," he said, "is I'd like to see something real cheap."

So the clerk handed him a mirror.

  1. Wow, you're background is beautiful. Very festive.
Your statement... "I feel I have to be all things to all people, but usually end up feeling guilty because I cant." I know exactly what you're talking about. My job for so many years was to take care of my family. Now that the girls are grown, I still find myself wanting to help them out and do things for them. Not in the "awful mother-in-law" way but in a good way. And when I can't, I feel guilty.
Something cheap? That is so funny.
I hope you're having a wonderful day. God bless.

  2. I am glad you understood what I was talking about. I do 99.9% of what any of my children ask, and when I say "no", I feel I have been hit with a brick! It takes me a few days to get over it and realize that I still have a life of my own. Enjoy the afternoon.

  3. It is funny that you wrote that today about taking time to see what God has really blessed us with. That message is what the message was today at church. Our priest said one of greatest gifts God gave us was the gift of time. We should embrace it and use it wisely. We should also take the time that God has given us to prepare for His return!

  4. Hi Linda, We were watching the game last night, too! That was a good game and I'm sorry GA lost.
As I have matured, I am not able to do all that I once did. I am having to "learn" to let go of some things and carefully manage my time. Like you, I have so much to be thankful to the Lord for.
Wishing you a nice afternoon, Mildred

  5. Good evening, Linda. A good message today. I also feel that way, though our kids and grandkids are too far away for me to feel guilty about not being there for them, but I do feel that way at work. I used to do a lot more to help everyone at work, during events and special programs. I just can't cart tables and chairs and punch bowls anymore. I am doing better about pleading "old" and sitting back and letting the younger staff members do the work. I have been there and done that - paid my dues, I guess.

We do have much to be thankful for!! Hugs!

  6. Just got in from church, and what a blessing. My whining needs to be buried in a deep hole. I am so thankful for all I do have.
Hope your week ahead is good. Hugs
