If you partied, hope you enjoyed; if you stayed up and watched the mirror ball fall at midnight, hope it was worth it, and if, like me, you went to bed and missed it all, that is fine too!  I had a rough night, but it had nothing to do with it being New Year's Eve!  Maybe that means today will be a good day.

Some of my new friends don't know about my "thankful" jar.

Throughout the whole year when something happened that I was thankful for, I jot it down, put it in my jar and then at the end of the year, I review how good God has been to me, and how much I have to be thankful for.  That is what I will do today, and begin the one for 2013.

Now, I have to share a joke that was sent to me, and being an old RN, it was especially funny as I have wanted to do something similar many, many times!

NEVER TICK OFF A NURSE

A big shot attorney had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. He was a royal pain to the nurses because he bossed them around just like he did his staff. None of the hospital staff wanted to have anything to do with him.

The head nurse was the only one who could stand up to him. She came into his room and announced, 'I have to take your temperature.' After complaining for several minutes, he finally settled down, crossed his arms and opened his mouth.

'No, I'm sorry,' the nurse stated, 'but for this reading, I can't use an oral thermometer.' This started another round of complaining but eventually he rolled over and bared his behind.

After feeling the nurse insert the thermometer, he heard her announce, 'I have to get something. Now you stay JUST LIKE THAT until I get back!'

She left the door to his room open on her way out. He cursed under his breath as he heard people walking past his door, laughing.

After a half hour, the man's doctor came into the room.
'What's going on here?' asked the doctor.  Angrily, the man answered, 'What's the matter, Doc? Haven't you ever seen someone having their temperature taken?'

After a pause, the doctor confessed.....
'Not with a carnation.'

  1. I was sleeping soundly as the New Year made its appearance. Sorry you did not have a good night sweet Linda. Still praying for all the pain to go away and you to be well.

That head nurse took care of Mr. Grumbles. lol Very funny! Speaking of nurses you all have a very special place in my heart. God gave you a very special gift and the world would not be the same without all the wonderful nurses. Thank you for all you have done to help people get well and feel better. Now I am waiting to hear when you are all well and feeling better.

Love, hugs and blessings sweet Linda!

  5. That's a great story! He deserved it - better had it been a rose with thorns still on the stem! LOL

We went to bed around 10:00 but woke up in time to see the ball drop at midnight. Just a stroke of luck, actually, that Joe went to the bathroom, and it work me up - 11:54. I turned on the TV just in time!

I remember when you started your thankful jar. It is a great idea!

Wishing you and Jim and healthy and happy, blessed new year! Hugs & love.

  7. That is so funny... I can just see some nurse doing that. I've been in the hospital a few times and I've worked in a nursing home, so I've seen/heard patients just like him.
I'm sure your 'thankful jar' is quite an experience. And a great idea.
I hope this next year has many blessings for you, Linda.
