May I pour you a cup? Sit down and let's talk about our plans for the day. Friday makes all of us smile, in one way or the other. Those who still work a regular job, smile because they have a couple or maybe three days to sleep late. Those folks retired like me, still enjoy the weekend. I look forward to Sunday, as you know, to worship with my church family.
What are your plans for weekend?

Aryn has a basketball game tonight at 6 and of course we will go to that. I am thankful that it is at a school close to where I live and we don't have to drive up Signal Mtn. tonight. Our weather has been rough for the past couple of days with some "black ice" on some roads. Tonight we wont have to worry about that. GO LADY EAGLES!!!
Speaking of Aryn (I know, I know, I speak of her and the others often...lol), below is a picture of her and her boyfriend, as they were outside yesterday evening, playing in the "snow". I can barely see a flake, but you would have thought it was knee deep!
Ahhhh, to be young again!

It was a cold, soup day yesterday and I wanted to make some with whatever I had here, and not have to go to the store. So, I came to my trusty computer and pulled up some recipes. I am a big cabbage lover, had that, so searched the cabinet, found some canned tomatoes, chopped onion, added some celery salt, pepper, shredded the cabbage and put all in crock pot. About 2 hours into cooking, I added a can of Rotel tomatoes and chilies, and about 1/2 V8 juice, browned some hamburger and added that. Talk about a hodge podge....but we had some left over cornbread that I warmed, and had the soup, and IT WAS REALLY GOOD! Jim is the chef in our house, but he put a stamp of approval on it. Sometimes it is good to just guess!
Last night, just as the rain, sleet and spitting snow ceased, a bright light came over the hill behind the house. I grabbed my trusty camera and went outside.....this is what I saw....it only lasted about 5-10 minutes and it was gone again!
Earlier yesterday around 1, Jim wanted to go for a ride. At first he wanted to head toward the Ocoee River area, but as it leads to N. C., and the weather was to be bad, we decided not a good idea. I mentioned another mountain in our area than I had never been on top of, so off we went to White Oak Mtn. I should have taken a picture of one of the houses, but instead stopped and took some pictures looking down into the valley below.
It was a grey day, as I said before, but you can almost see that we are a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. The houses on this particular one, look like hotels.....too big for me to want to clean! lol
I was just thinking, if it is really religion with these nudist colonies, they
sure must turn atheists in the wintertime. ~Will Rogers
What a beautiful view from the top of your new mountain look-out! I'm sure those huge houses cost a little extra because of the wonderful view.
ReplyDeleteAryn is so cute, and her boyfriend looks nice. I wish her and her team good luck in the game tonight! Let us know how it goes, please. I do love hearing about your grands and their activities! Hugs & love!
Terri, as far as we (her parents and her nosey grandmother) can tell, Drew is a really nice young man....active in school, church, family, polite, easy going and neither Aryn nor Drew are the jealous type....she is a freshman and he is a junior, and she cant "date" and he doesnt seem to find spending time at her house and his. We shall see! lol
Deletedoesnt seem to MIND...spending time
DeletePS - I LOVE that picture of you at the top of your blog. Keep it there!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Are you attending WW meetings? Leigh and I are thinking of going back next Sat. Wondering if the plan is different or same...
DeleteOh for young love, so cute! Beautiful pictures, such a nice area you live in. Hope you enjoy your weekend and are able to get to church Hugs
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your new page is sure an eye opener. I love it. The picture taken on the mountain is so pretty. And your soup looks delicious. I could almost smell it. Soup is always good on a cold day. Our forecast doesn't look good. We're headed for sub-zero temperatures and possibly an ice storm. :(
ReplyDeleteYou have a good weekend.
Aryn and her boyfriend are too cute! The soup recipe sounds soooo yummy! I have been craving some homemade soup..I am going to save this and make it soon. Thanks for posting it! Black ice can be so scary. We had some on the way home from our camper. Some drivers just drove fast regardless and sure enough we saw one of those drivers up the road in a ditch. Have a wonderful week, Linda!
