IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

Good Friday morning!  Are you looking forward to the long holiday weekend, and do you have plans?  None for us, but I really don't care....it is miserably hot and I would rather be in the house in AC than to be out and sweat and fight the bugs.

I am headed to the cardiac doctor this morning at 8.  I have to be checked after the hospital admission and expect to be dismissed, as it wasn't my heart at all.

It really is 'football time in Tennessee' as the late John Ward used to say before every game.  He is a former radio broadcaster at the University of Tennessee from 1965 until 1999.  His trademarks include: his introduction to each game, "It's football time in Tennessee!;" his touchdown call, "Give ... him ... SIX! ... TOUCHDOWN, TENNESSEE!;" asking, "Did he make it?", and answering, "HE MADE IT!," after a made field goal; enthusiastically saying, "BOTTOM!" after a made basket in basketball; and wearing a light blue towel around his neck while broadcasting.  If you are from Tennessee, played at Tennessee, listened to the radio when a game was being played, you know who John Ward was.  I miss his voice.

Have a great day!

  1. Good morning, Linda! I'm so excited for the football season! I think my Spartans and Lions are going to have a good season. Good luck at the doctor today! I'm going to have to come back and listen to the video a little bit later. My laptop's sound isn't working so I have to wait until my iPad is charged. Have a great day!

  2. Oh great, singing Rocky Top now, lol. Yeah, football season is exciting here. Not as exciting, as we don't live in Tuscaloosa (Univ. of AL)--anymore. But still exciting. My husband & son have ESPN plotted for the day tomorrow. ANYWAYS--Good luck this morning. Please keep us updated. PS GO GATORS! (Oh wait, I am suppose to say "GO PIONEERS!"--we are afterall embracing the whole college thing now. lol

  3. Football and hockey are my games, and the season is upon us! I'm from Ohio, so have to cheer for the Buckeyes. I'm not much for college ball, though. We are Eagles fans at our house (as you know!, and Flyers fans.

Good luck at the doctor! Glad you have a quiet weekend ahead and can hopefully get some good R&R going on!

  5. Sorry I didn't know that reporter, but he had quite a career. 34 yrs. in radio. I'm sure all his fans miss him. He was good. ** You've read about my plans for the long weekend. I was so looking forward to the party and the fair, but now the weatherman wants to spoil it all. Rain! We need it badly, but not on the cake. ** Hope your dr. released you this morning at the appt. You take care. ♥
