AUTUMN SMELLS!

In the fall, it seems the smells are stronger than any other season.  The spices are so strong.  Witches Brew is something we can all make and use in our homes during the fall and following is the recipe:

Witches Brew
1 apple
1 orange
1 lemon
2 T whole allspice
2 T whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks

Slice fruit into rings. Don't worry about peels, seed, cores, etc. Place all ingredients into a crock-pot. Fill with water. Simmer on low. Refill with water as needed.  Be careful not let the water get too low.

One of the other things I enjoy in the fall, and at no other time of the year, is Dunkin' Donuts pumpkin coffee.  One daughter introduced me to it last year, and my other daughter brought me a lb. of it this past week.

We are not doing very much these days.  I am in constant severe pain in my back and legs and my left hand stays swollen and aches all the time, like a bad toothache.  If any of you have ever had sciatica, you know what I am talking about.....3 discs deteriorated, no cushion between, therefore they rest on the nerves and it is awful.  The epidural is set for October 7th and I am 'just holding my breath' til that time.  It doesn't hurt to sit or lie down, but when I have to get up, my upper body weight causes the discs to push down on the nerves. The definition of sciatic:  Symptoms include lower back pain, buttock pain, and pain, numbness or weakness in various parts of the leg and foot. Other symptoms include a "pins and needles" sensation, or tingling and difficulty moving or controlling the leg.

So, I said all that to say, have a nice Tuesday.  I usually do 'Thankful Tuesday', but today I am just thankful to sit for a few minutes to type, until I can get my second cup of pumpkin coffee!

  1. 'morning, Linda. I hesitate to say "good" morning, because I know how you are hurting. I have a mini-crockpot and I bet that concoction would make the whole house smell good if I put it in the mini and let it steep! Yum!!

I'm not keen on pumpkin anything. One piece of pumpkin pie, at Thanksgiving, is usually my limit. Not sure I would like the pumpkin coffee....

Anyway, I wish you a restful day! That October appointment is coming. Hugs.

  3. My sister has the same problem with her back and I've seen the pain in her eyes. It has to be horrible. Prayers continue for you. Just don't hold your breath too long... you'll turn blue. LOL
I can almost smell the witch'e brew. I also love the scents in the fall... the spices especially. I'll have to try the coffee. I love pumpkin.
You have a good day, Linda. ♥

  5. I'm nutty for pumpkin. It's good in almost anything. That and cinnamon. They are good in almost all foods (in my never to be humble opinion).

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about the sciatica! Bless your heart. In 2009, I had surgery for 'blown discs' in my neck. The pain was so intense. It seemed like I couldn't get away from it. I didn't dare move for fear of more pain. Except for the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (now fixed ~ Praise Jesus!) I've been right as rain. LOTS OF PRAYERS for a rapid healing. Do keep us posted when you feel well enough. Feel assured God knows your needs and loves you even more dearly than any of us ever could and He will bless you.

    Yours In Christ ~:)
