I feel like the tree looks this morning....crazy!  I can sit and lay down and no pain whatsoever, but getting up and walking is another story.

Good Wednesday morning and yes, it is 'that' day!  I have seen it on TV and several people have posted the 'hump day' pictures.  Do you actually know what it means?

“Hump day” is a tradition in American English. It refers to the idea that a week — especially a work week — is like a hill. Monday and Tuesdays are days when you climb up, since they are the beginning or start of your work week. At the end of Wednesday, you’ve reached the pinnacle of the week, and your work on Thursday and Friday represents climbing down toward the weekend.   If you have a tedious job or just work hard, it can be comforting to reach hump day. Then, the weekend doesn’t seem so far off and nebulous as when you started work on Monday."

According to the Oxford English Dictionary California, the earliest use of the term so far found is from 1959 in the Long Beach (CA) Press Telegram. A use of "Hump Night," referring to Wednesday night, is recorded in the journal American Speech from 1955.

A cousin of mine recently got married this week in Islamorada, Fla., which is in the Keys, and the actual ceremony was on the beach. I thought it was such a pretty setting.

Today is the day I go to the hand doctor to see when he will do the surgery on my thumb.  Fun, fun, fun.  Yes, I am falling apart.

  2. The wedding on the beach is beautiful. So is her gown.
I'd heard the definition of hump day but didn't know when it started. Interesting.
I hope you have a nice day and your doctor has good news.

Keep us posted, please, about what you learn at the hand doctor today. Hope they can get it down for you soon!

Nice to see a "real" definition for Hump Day, though I know what it means, and look forward to it every week! Sort of wishing my life away, I guess. LOL

    Love & hugs!

  5. I want the giant eyeballs in the tree! That would freak out any passers by. It would be HILL-arious [giggle] for Hallowe'en.

We used to go SCUBA diving in the Keys a lot. It is pretty down that way.

    Hope you're feeling 100% soon.

    Happy Hump Day. ~:)
