Good Sunday morning to you and yours! I pray you have a blessed day and can attend the church of your choice. I definitely will be at mine.
We did absolutely nothing yesterday - I never stuck my nose out the door. Of course, in this household, football takes over as of yesterday. Jim and I support the UT VOLS, (who won their first game last night against Austin Peay) but when it comes to pro football, we each like different teams. I support the Denver Broncos; Jim likes the Falcons, Saints, and others, depending on the day and who they are playing. I know many of you are not football followers, but of those that do, would anyone like to venture a guess as to why I, living way down south in Tennessee, would follow a team way out west???
Jim had the best day he has had in a long, long time yesterday. He talked a lot, he ate a lot, and while watching the games, he was doing his exercises the physical therapist gave him. Those make for happy days around here.
I don't have any interesting or exciting news, so am going to leave you hopefully, with a smile. Do you remember Phyllis Diller? A friend sent me a page of her silly jokes and here are a few---------
Housework can't kill you, but why take a chance?
Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing up is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.
The reason women don't play football is because 11 of them would never wear the same outfit in public.
Best way to get rid of kitchen odors: Eat out.
You know you're old if your walker has an airbag.
Old age is when the liver spots show through your gloves.
My cooking is so bad my kids thought Thanksgiving was to commemorate Pearl Harbour .
.....last, but not least, I can relate.....
My mother-in-law had a pain beneath her left breast. Turned out to be a trick knee.
We've been having lots of heat and humidity too!! This last week we've had a rainfall of between 8-11 inches. That's a lot of rain. Hubby constantly goes down to the dock to make sure the pontoon is not higher than the dock. So far so good!!
ReplyDeleteThe rain promises to bring cooler dryer temperatures. Hope the weather guys are right. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Why would a gal in Tennessee root for a team out west? You're a fan of Peyton? You like the color of their uniforms? Just teasing. :) Personally, I'm a partial fan of the Steelers and of course Ohio State.
ReplyDeleteYour title picture is very interesting. They would be fun to have. We've been so hot and humid here too, but we're suppose to cool down again this week, back into the 70's. Maybe the cold front will reach farther south so you can enjoy it too.
I've always liked Phyllis Diller. She's very popular in her home town too... just 30 miles east of us. She made several personal appearances there, but I never went over to see her. Her sense of humor was different and her one-liners could be hilarious.
Take care. ♥
You are right my friend. Of course I would follow Peyton where 'ere he goes! Looking forward to that cool front.
DeleteGood Afternoon! As you know, I am a southern girl, raised in the south. I am a Gator, root for the Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs (cause i was born up there, lol and it is in my blood, lol.)--now hubby, he is a Gator & Dallas Cowboyer. ANYWAYS-No central ac up here, no one has it, just window units. AND believe me, we sure could use some relief, the last cpl. of days...never mind..Thanks for the laugh. Have to go, my husband wants to use the computer and soak up the window ac (we put it back in), his turn, lolol. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Jim had a good day; tell him I said it's because of football!! Love the games. Love game day(s)....and always look forward to watching.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you had a blessed day, too, Linda.
The smiles from Phyllis Diller brought back memories of her telling them herself. Good clean humor that makes me laugh out loud. Can't beat it.
Love to you, my friend.
Jackie
I'd like to sit outside in one of those things too!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Jim had such a great day. :) Thanks for the laughs.
That is such good news that Jim had a great day yesterday (and hopefully is today, too!). Yes, I know how you dislike summer's humidity and bugs, and how much you love your Peyton Manning!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou know that I like football and hockey. We are Eagles and Flyers fans, and I keep an ear tuned to the great Ohio State Buckeyes.
I enjoyed the Phyllis Diller jokes. She was hilarious. Thanks for the chuckles!!
Thanks for the Phyllis Diller funnies, nice to start the day with a smile. Don't care for football, Hubby enjoys it some, but not nearly as much as hockey. So glad Jim had a good day, I hope there are many more.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your VOLS on their win! The Spartans won their season opener too! I love summer but I am so ready for Fall. I can't wait for the cooler days and everything that this season brings. As you already know I am a big sports freak and nest to baseball, football is my second favorite. All my kids are in fantasy football leagues. This should make for some fun during our family get togethers. LOl.
