POST DOCTOR VISIT!

Having worked in the medical field is dangerous to a degree.  You know just enough to wonder and worry, but not enough to know exactly what it is or what is to be done.  I had my right thumb joint replaced in 2008 and have not had one single problem.  When the doctor began the examination, I remembered that he had done the same thing before.  After the exam and the xray, the diagnosis was what I thought...replace the left thumb joint.

Turn your hang over and look at your wrist....see the ligament running down to your hand?  He takes that ligament out, rolls it up, and replaces the cushion in the thumb joint. He informed me yesterday that this problem and procedure was the most diagnosed and repaired, in the hand.  So, unless they have a cancellation before, I will have surgery on October 22.  He asked if I wanted an injection of steroid to ease the pain, and crazy as I am, I said no.  Now I wished I had taken it because it might have helped with my back pain too.

Hand Osteoarthritis (Degenerative Arthritis of the Hand)

Church last night and it was all I could do to walk from the car to the door of the building. Whew...it is going to be rough making it until October 7th for the epidural in my spine.

I can relate.......
Three older ladies were discussing the problems of getting older. One said, 'Sometimes I catch myself with a jar of mayonnaise in my hand, in front of the refrigerator, and can't remember whether I need to put it away, or start making a sandwich'.
The second lady chimed in, 'Yes, sometimes I find myself standing on the stairs and can't remember whether I was on my way up or on my way down.'
The third one responded, 'Well, I am glad I don't have that problem; knock on wood, 'as she rapped her knuckles on the table.  She looked up and said, 'That must be the door, I'll get it!'

  7. We'll keep praying that you'll have a successful surgery and rapid healing from pain. Bless your heart. It's awful to hurt so much. Loved the jokes. It's shows true Christian charity to find humor during such a humorless time. (Plus, I'm glad this is being done before the health care system is completely destroyed by ObamaCare. God is looking out for you my friend!).
    Luv ~:)

    1. That is exactly what I told my surgeon....I wanted everything repaired that needed it by the end of the year because none of us had an idea of what is to come with ObamaCare.

  8. Being in the medical field I know what you are saying, we do know a bit more and to know what is ahead. Praying you get to have the surgery sooner to get some relief. I suffer with my back too and can be down for days. I do find that Cataflam which is an old imflamatory drug works great but I also suffer with acid reflux so I do take it with lots of food and TUMS and or Nexium. Those that I have told about this old drug seem to like it. dr's do not perscribe it as much as there are other newer drugs but maybe you can look into it with your dr. Mind you, the stomach irritation can be a problem but it does work and I do not take it all the time for that reason.
