I received another Postcrossing card yesterday and it is from the Ukraine. It is a picture of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. We have some beautiful churches in the USA, but I do believe those across the big pond (as my friend in England calls it) are much more ornate and beautiful.
Jim wanted a hamburger for supper last night and of course he wanted to go completely across town to Five Guys. Do any of you have this restaurant in your town? He likes to go because he can get bell peppers on his hamburger. I am not a fan like he is, but to get him out of the house, I will go just about anywhere! lol
Not really any plans for today. Aryn has a volleyball game at her school this afternoon, and if we both feel like going, we might try that. It is a slightly grey day so I may put on a pot of veggie soup and make cornbread. It would be good before we go or after we get back.
Lord, may we be ever mindful of Your grace and love
in all that surrounds us. Thank You for making Yourself
visible through the beauty of Your creation. Teach us
to look beyond the beauty to see Your hand at work.

Never pass up an opportunity to enjoy nature’s beauty—it’s the handwriting of God.
You're right, Dancing With the Stars wasn't as good as last year. But perhaps being from Wisconsin I'm a little partial. Donald Rocked!! Not only a supreme athlete, but an amazing person as well.
ReplyDeleteI lost interest in Dancing with the stars a few years ago. It doesn't help that Bob never liked it!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the churches in Europe are so much prettier, but then they are much older too.
We had a 5 Guys open here a few months ago. We enjoyed it and will go back, but it's not our favorite.
I lost interest a couple of years ago in DWS. As for 5 Guys, we did have one in Tuscaloosa- unfort. our little town in upstate NY does not. I am sure Buffalo does, but we won't be going over until next month. I do like their burgers and fries. Hurray for Jim.(thumbs up)-- Blessings
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what DWTS is! [ha ha] But I do know it's always a let down when one's favorite show isn't as much fun anymore.
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty postcard. Traditionally, Catholic churches are more ornate than Protestant. That was one of the ways that Protestants showed themselves as being seperate from the papists. They also dressed differently during those eras. (I enjoy studing ancient history.)
There's a Five Guys 50 miles from us in Brunswick. Never had a meal there, though. We usually go to the Longhorns restaurant next door. They offer adult beverages which we prefer.
God bless. ~:)
I had a meeting last night, so DWTS is taped. I've not watched it yet, but I was losing interest last year. I'll watch it once and see how I feel. I think it's probably done for me, too.
ReplyDeleteWe have Five Guys here and like it okay. We don't go often, though. They sure give you lots of fries.
Hope you felt like going to the game!
The only TV show I look forward to now is Castle, and Who Do You Think You Are, when it's on.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try 5 Guys Hamburgers; I haven't yet...but I will.
ReplyDeleteHoping that you have a beautiful week!
I've seen a few of the Dancing shows but never really got into the competition. I just like to watch their dancing. I like Criminal Minds, even reruns of reruns. That church is beautiful. I've often wondered how you read these cards from 'over the pond'. If they write anything, is it in English?
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of your hamburger place. We seem to be out of the route for so many restaurants in the south. All we have are the big chains... McD, Wendy's, Arby's, Subway and Taco Bell. That's about all we have.
Carol, the people who send the postcards do speak and write in English. It is amazing that foreign countries can speak 1-5 languages, and we have a hard time with our English! lol
