THANKFUL THURSDAY!

1)  So very thankful for prayer.  I have seen answer to prayer this week and know it was that and only that.  My Pastor's Dad had a stroke this past Saturday night.  He could not talk, walk or move.  Without telling you all the details of being transferred from West Virginia to Chattanooga, Tennessee, he now can talk, walk, and is ready for whatever God has for him.  Over 1,000 churches have been praying for him, people around the world actually.  He has 90% blockage in both carotid arteries with a large blood clot in one. They came here because there are some of the best arterial surgeons in the country.

2)  I am thankful that my ortho doctor gave me a prescription for pain that I can take until he does the epidural on 10-7.

3)  I am thankful for several good nights sleep in a row.

4)  My silly cat makes me happy every day with something new she gets into!

5)  I am a fall and winter gal, so am really looking forward to cooler temps, and lots of color on the mountains around my town.

6)  If you want a cheap telephone bill and a phone that really works, try the Magic Jack. We have had ours for over a year and to set up was 19.95, and the yearly rate is 40.00....yes, yearly.  Free long distance, caller ID, call waiting, all the things we were paying big bucks for!

7)  Speaking of telephones, I know I should come to the 21st century and get one of the fancy, 'do everything' ones, but I don't use my cell phone for anything but emergencies.  I still have the old fashioned flip phone - no long distance (I can call free in the house), no texting, no internet.  But it serves the purpose.

8)  The physical therapist came on Tuesday to work with Jim, and brought him a walker with a seat!  No cost to us, and it has really been a help to Jim....he gets tired so easily using the regular type, and this way, he can sit and rest anywhere he goes.

9)  I am considering a Keurig coffee maker. Do you have one?  What about the cost of the little cups vs. a pound of coffee for the old coffeemakers?  Does one little cup only make 1 cup of coffee?  Seems it would be more expensive to use.

10)I am thankful that I am still able to drive, as I am taking Jim to an appointment with his cardiologist this morning.  He is unable to drive any more.

  1. So glad, with all the things going on in your life, that you can still look on the positive side. I'm still in the last century with my cell phone. We don't get service at the house, so its just used when we travel. Happy Thursday!!!

  3. Good morning, Linda! I'm happy to hear you got some pain meds to help you get through to the epidural date. Excellent news. I'm also glad to see that Jim has an updated walker, with a seat. More excellent news!

The power of prayer is an awesome thing, for sure. Praise God for His healing power over your Pastor's father.

Linda, we love our Keurig coffee maker! Yes, the k-cups are pricier than buying regular coffee, but we were throwing out half a pot of coffee on a daily basis. The coffee (our pot has three choices: 5 oz., 7 oz., or 9 oz.) is delicious. There are so many choices out there for regular coffee, flavored coffee, latte, capucino, TEA, hot chocolate, and we even have hot cider k-cups.

Buying them in the grocery store is expensive, but they are less than 50¢ a cup when you buy in bulk at Sam's Club, or from Amazon. I heard that Campbell's is coming out with a soup version soon. We also have one at work and everyone loves it. You can make one cup of whatever beverage you want, whenever you want. Love it. We got ours at Sam's Club on sale for $119.00. It has a large reservoir with a filter, and makes the 3 sizes. I think our Sam's has the same one for $129.00 right now. Order on line through Amazon if their prices are better.

  4. Glad to hear you have some pain meds!! I though about a Keurig, but we never throw out any of the pot we make, so I thought it was going to cost to much for us. I think it really depends on how much coffee you drink.

  5. There are blessings all around you. Wonderful. Your Pastor's father, your hubby, his therapy and new walker, your Dr. helping with your pain, you being able to sleep. Praise the Lord.
We looked into getting a Keurig too. I know several people who love theirs, with all the varieties of drinks you can make, but it would be too costly for the 2 of us. We drink more coffee than we should.
I have an iPhone 4 with all the "bells and whistles" but Bob still has his flip phone. He says "I don't need all that stuff. I just need a phone to get calls when I'm out of the house".
