Yesterday morning at church, the children, ages 4 through 4th grade, had their program for us and it was delightful. Some of the older children actually sang the tunes, but the 'wee' ones tend to scream the words....lol But cute none-the-less. Our Pastor's wife taught our class. There is a woman who has a daughter and they both dress for the seasons. The daughter is 50 years old, but has the mind of a 5 year old. She is the sweetest person, loves to hug and laugh and is never a problem at all...we love Kim. I asked if I could take their picture and Kim was excited to say YES!
Kim loves to color and our teacher has always had a coloring book and crayons on hand for her. She is throwing me a kiss in the picture as I took it. I said all that to say, she is our special blessing.
Latest card from Postcrossing is appropriate for the season....from Germany.
Update on Jim....didn't cough most of the day yesterday, but by 8:00, he said he was worse and didn't know what to do. I told him we could call the doctor first thing this morning, or I could take him to the ER and he chose to wait. I listened to his breath sounds all night and he didn't cough, so praying he is some better this morning when he wakes up...sure want him to feel better for Christmas and the Saturday after, when we have breakfast for our family.
ADVICE OF THE DAY:
The pure and simple truth
is rarely pure and never simple!
I think a lot of the scaling back is because of the economic depression. There's no money for such frivolities. Maybe something good will come from the bad, that it's better to focus on family and not on spending. :)
ReplyDeleteI pray that Jim is healed soon. Prayers from SE Georgia.
God bless. ~:)
I agree on the economic situation; we have to save what money we do have for food, pay the bills, etc. Thanks for the prayers for Jim. He isnt better this morning :(
DeleteGood morning, Linda. Sure hope Jim is better this morning, but maybe a trip to the doc for some antibiotics would be good, anyway?
ReplyDeleteLove the photo!! Kim is a special blessing, indeed. We have Ellen in our circle and she is also a blessing. I do worry about those mentally challenged as they (and their caregivers) age. It has to be a worry for the parents, knowing that one day their special child will be alone.
Please keep us posted about Jim!! Prayers lifted.
I am sorry to say, but Jim isnt any better at all, in fact, maybe worse. He is discouraged on top of it all. He had a round of antibiotics and it didnt touch it, so it must be viral. We are calling doc again today to see what we can do. Thanks for caring.
ReplyDeletePraying for Jim! My goodness, this is scary!--as for the rest of your post..yes, people seem to be scaling down, at least the ones who have common sense are. Loved your post...praying for Jim..(and you). Blessings
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda....cant have too many prayers going up..
DeleteI agree with you. Most activities and spending has been scaled down a lot for us too. We're just concentrating on having a good time with our kids and grandkids ... just what's important.
ReplyDeletePrayers for Jim.... and you. Keep me posted?
Prayers for you and your hubby...
ReplyDeleteget this out of the way and be well for Christmas, right?
And perhaps the tide is finally turning...
Perhaps, for whatever the reason, our society will finally see that all that commercialism and craziness is just that...crazy!
I know I am wishful, but I long for my children to grow into a world that is much more simple and peaceful and calm and devout and family oriented. Not too much to ask, right? ; )
Kids Christmas programs are the best. The little ones are so eager, and the older they get the more evident it is that they would rather be some where else. Prayers that hubby is all better by Christmas.
ReplyDeletePrayers for Jim.
ReplyDeletePraying for Jim!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the mother/daughter twosome. They both sound like a real blessing!
