50 AND SUNSHINE!!!

It will be a nice day and so welcomed.  We are going to a basketball game this evening and it sure is easier to drive at night, up and down a mountain, if it isn't raining.

Do you or did you sew your children's clothes when they were little?  I did, and when I saw the picture above of a little girls dress pattern, it brought back some sweet memories.  I had never touched a sewing machine, but Jim gave me one for Christmas one year, and I learned by doing.  I even made their winter coats!

I was terribly disappointed in the Super Bowl, but someone wins, someone loses.  Peyton Manning is still a winner in my book.  The half time show was awful and most of the commercials were blah.  The only one that was good was the horses and the dog.

Church was good yesterday.  Our Pastor and his wife were in West Virginia, conducting a family seminar, so we had two new gentlemen - in AM and PM. February is family month at our church and they both brought good messages on the families of today vs. the families that God designed in the Bible.

How do you know when it is time to hang up the car keys?  I say when your dog has this look on his face!  A picture if worth a thousand words.

  1. Thanks for the smiles with that last photo!
My grandma taught me to sew when I was much younger. I don't have the patience for it now but I used to enjoy sewing.
    Wishing you a nice day.

  2. My grandmom sewed some of my clothes and I loved them. The teacher in one of my classrooms would come and check the inside seam to see if it really was handmade as the dresses were so good. Sewing is relaxing until something goes wrong then ripping out the seam and starting again..... not so fun.

  3. I took 4 years of Home Ec in high school and as a senior, we had to make ourselves a dress. I made it, but it ended up with both arms on the same side! lol So when I got the sewing machine from hubby, I started again, and was successful...

  4. I cannot sew a button. At all!
But those dresses are beautiful! And I wish I could make some...
    Anyway, enjoy your Monday.
Disappointed in the game last night too...
    Just couldn't stay interested. : )

  5. That old pattern brought back memories. My mom didn't sew, but Aunt Minnie did. She made my cousin Kathy clothes, when Kathy out grew them, they were passed down to me. I remember the day well when I grew taller than Kathy,,,,, Department store here I come!!!

  6. My step-mom taught me how to sew in the 1970s. She was a seamstress. All her work was First Class. I've never had children but used to sew most all my clothes. Now with Wal-Mart and Chinese labor, it's cheaper to buy them then make them. Fabric is so expensive now! I was shocked at the prices last time I was in the fabric store.
Everyone is saying the StuporBowl was a bust. Makes me especially glad I don't watch.
When my dogs start looking like that I'll turn the truck keys over to someone else and stick to my motorcycle. *lol*
    Luv ~:)

  7. I did not make clothing for my kids, since they were already gown up when I got them, but I did sew my own clothes and started in high school, home ec. My mom was a wonderful seamstress (and crafter), and she made all of our clothes for years, including prom dresses. It was a treat (so I thought then) to have a store-bought outfit to wear.

We turned the game off and watched Downton Abbey, so we missed Denver's one touchdown. It was terrible. Just think of all the money....$20 million just from Budweiser. Such a waste.

  8. I was surprised at the game, thought for sure Denver would bring it on. I am glad though Seattle won, because Percy Harvin is a former Gator, lol. I did not sew my sons clothes, my mom did for us though. I do sew, haven't in a long time though. No sun here, cold and snowing.

  9. I sewed a few outfits for my oldest daughter and when I realized that they looked like I sewed them, I quit!
    I love that dogs expression!

  10. That dog's face is so funny. That game last night was a big disappointment. I didn't watch any of it, just caught the score on the nightly news.
I tried sewing and I did manage to make some summer clothes for our girls, but I was never good at it. I love the little girl's dresses in your picture.
Hope you're having a good time at the basketball game.

  11. I didn't take home ec...but learned to sew a little. My kids now bring me their mending.
However, a friend made me a complete layette for my first baby...even home made diapers...such a treat since we struggled back then to make ends meet.

  12. We had the kids over for Super Bowl so it was a fun family day. I was one of the very few who was rooting for the Sea Hawks. The Lions are awful and at the beginning of the season I started following the Hawks and I told Walt that they were going to win it all this season. The picture of the dog and the elderly woman is so funny!!

  13. Oh, sweet Linda I want to come visit you it is cold and everything is covered in ice here. Your weather sounds wonderful. We did not watch the Super Bowl. Hubby started watching it but didn't stick with it. Love the picture of the lady and dog. Hope you are feeling better and having a good week. Hugs and blessings.
