'...all I have needed, Thy Hand hath provided.'  So very true, if I would just stop trying to handle everything, and let Him.

I feel like I have been on a see-saw this week.  Up so high I could yell it from on the mountain top, and then things happen or come, and you are as low as you can get and hard to even look up.  But the good news is, He is ALWAYS there, and He is in control.

Funny how age affects your mental and emotional state.  I found these pictures in a drawer yesterday and took a long look.  The first picture is my Dad and me.  After my parents separated, my Mom and I moved back to Nashville to live with my Grandmother. I never saw my Dad again.  That is me and her in the second picture.  The last one is me, and I have no clue how old I was, but I know less than 3.

Every now and then, we take a look back on our lives.  I must be doing that.  Seems as the holiday season approaches, it brings to mind the "good old days".

I am an only child, parents deceased, grandparents deceased, all my aunts and uncles gone, and I have my 3 children and 6 grandchildren for relatives!  lol  Funny when there is no one to call or write a letter to, asking about what happened back when.  I often think.....I wish I knew how long we lived there, or want to know something about my Dad's family, and realize, there is no one to ask.

If you need to bring things together, get information about you and your background, do it now or you will end up like me..........without anything.

On a brighter note, church tonight and I always look forward to Wednesday service as it is Bible study and I love learning from God's Word.  I am thankful today for my church and church family.

TRADITIONS:

Do you set a "fancy" table at Thanksgiving or use paper plates, etc?  Well, found this helpful "napkin folding" and wanted to share..............

Dress up a holiday table by including special napkins at each place. Follow these steps to create fancy, folded napkins:
  • Wash and press square linen napkins flat before they are completely dry. Starch for best results.
  • Fold napkin into thirds; fold left and right edges to middle; fold upper left corner down and lower right corner up.
  • Fold napkin lengthwise, bringing points to top; bend left-hand bottom corner to right in a circle around your fingers.
  • Tuck corner into inner fold; turn over right-hand corner and tuck into fold.
  • (we use paper!)

Enjoy today!

  1. LOL - Maxine always makes me laugh, and that is a good one, Linda!!

I use cloth napkins whenever we have company, and enjoy special folds, though I usually just use napkin rings, which I also have a collection of. Everyday use is for paper at our house.

I enjoy genealogy, as you know (because I mention it frequently) and was blessed to get started when my grandparents were still living, so we could talk about things. If you have the names of your parents and the years they were born, you will be amazed at what you can find on line now, Linda. All you have to do is ask cyberspace and answers will come! If you are really interested, it is SO worth joining Ancestry.com. Finding your lineage is almost effortless.

Wishing you a good day, and a peace-filled Bible study tonight!

  2. Terri, as I never had contact with my Dad again, and all his family is gone, I dont know his DOB, or even where he lived, etc. I do have my Mom's info, and my Jenn is big into ancestry like you and has a great deal of info on her. I know I had a background, but dont know how to find it on my Dad's side....lol Hope you have a really good day.

  3. I'm with you, so much more I want to ask my mom about but didn't think of it when I had the chance.

We do set a fancy table for Thanksgiving and Christmas - my daughter likes that job now.

  5. Honestly, just got a picture of my great grandparents. I had to ask a great niece. I wanted to know more and found out they married in Canada. Amazing to find out. I was lucky as the niece was only one to ask. It explains the French I remember hearing when I was young :) great grandma was exactly as I remembered. It made me smile.

  6. It's fun to look at the old pictures, but it always brings up those questions. When you have no one left to answer them is hard. The only person I have left is my mother's sister and she's only 10 yrs. older than me. I've exhausted all of her information.

  7. My my sister and my cousin's wife both are into family genealogy and collecting information from family members who are still alive and who's memory is still good is always the tip they give everyone. When I was taking care of my father in-law we used to have the best conversations about Walt's family. I would jot down the information and then send it off to Walt's cousin. It's amazing what one little bit of info can do!
