Rainy day on the schedule for this Monday.  As I got into church last night, it started and poured, but when we came out, it had stopped.  I drove home and got in the house before it began again.  More of the same today.  We have no appointments so don't really have to leave the house.  Maybe I can get caught up on the usual chores.

My Sunday School lesson yesterday was about "God's Pattern for the Church".  The word "church" is significant in the Bible because it is never used to refer to a denomination or a national church.  The Bible teaches that every church is directly accountable to God.  A simple definition of a local church is a group of baptized believers who have voluntarily joined themselves together to carry out the Great Commission.  In Matthew 16:13-18, Christ said, "I will build my church".
I have an excellent Sunday School teacher and you can tell she used to teach children in school because of her examples on the board.  Click to enlarge if you are interested in what each sheet says and how it describes the local church as taught us in the Bible.  Visuals help!

Moving on to my silly cat!  A lot of us have these fur babies,  and why it causes us to take pictures of them, is beyond me, but they are just so cute when they decide to 'take over' anything in your house.  She (Cali) is laying on the things I need to mend on my sewing table!  It is just a good nap site!

You may or may not remember a couple of weeks ago when I mentioned a lady that has started coming to our church and she chose to sit with me at every service.  She rides one of our buses and has been faithful to attend.  She made a picture for me of mountains, because in a conversation she remembered that I loved mountains.  Well, yesterday, she brought me something else she made.....a bookmark, and I am not quite sure what the other item is, but she had just gotten a new glue gun and wanted to make something with it.
She has 7 children and will be 31 on her birthday this Wednesday.  Maybe she was teaching her children how to make different things, but nevertheless, she included me and I appreciate her efforts.

Update on Jim, not much new except that he was still asleep when I left for church yesterday at 9:30 and when I got home at 12:30, he was asleep in his chair in the living room, and he went to bed at 7:30 pm and is still asleep at 8 am....that is about all he does now, sleep.

Leaving you with this............SMILE!

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear!"

  1. Adam's underwear...that gave me a good chuckle!

I love Cali's position! I'm amazed at how they can be comfortable with their bodies all twisted this way and that! Clothing or any fabric always attract our fur-babies, too. I don't dare leave my work clothes on the bed, or they will be covered in cat hair!

Prayers continue for Jim, Linda. Wishing you both a good week! Love & hugs.

  2. That's true. The church not a building, or any organized religion. WE are His church -- His followers, His believers.
Still thinking and praying for Jim.
That's so cute about the leaf. Thanks for the chuckle.
Hope you both have a good day. ♥

  3. I saw the word denomination and it caught my eye because I just posted a comment about a poem I wrote this morning on face book . I was feeling a bit down last night. I couldn't sleep. Sometimes I see and hear things in churches and from people I love that seem to have the attitude of being more superior than another church in some way. I loved and still love the church we attended for 24 years before we changed and I love the church we attend now but being there more I've hears some things that seem to be a little like they have one up on some other churches in town ..because , well different issue than the last church but same attitude. I believe that Christianity is not about denomination and that it is OK to have some differences but ultimately it is all about following Jesus and having a relationship with Him. It's about having sorrow for sins which we all have and realizing we need a Savior . God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. In Christ there is salvation, forgiveness and the mercy and grace we all have need of. Anyways I seem to be on a rampage sorry for rambling. It's on my heart. I'd love to see Christians work together on the most important issues that we can all agree on and pray and encourage our brothers and sisters in various churches. The searching need to see unity and love.

Cali looks so sweet and comfy.

Thanks for the smiles too lol sounds like something my little grandson would come up with

  4. Cheryl, for us, my church and church family, it is only about believing that Christ died for our sins, and we accept His gift of salvation in our hearts, and then we live as Christ would have us to live. Failure, sure, but we can run to Him and he will forgive and restore us. It is simple, doesnt have to be complicated...as my children learned it: the ABC's - A... All have come short of the glory of God...B...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and C...Confess with thou mouth. ABC. The local group of believers then uphold, love, help and enjoy worshipping Him together and praying to see others come to Him as well. What a wonderful time we will have in Heaven with fellow believers. The building we go to is not the church, it is stone, bricks or mortar that 'the church - we believers', worship together in....where 2 or more are gathered in His name....sending you a hug and much love my friend.
