School is definitely in session when the first Friday night football game is played.  I remember all too well, the pep rallies and the excitement on that first Friday night back in high school.  That is one thing that has not changed after all these years.  Not in my area of the country anyway!

I have to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, kind thoughts and encouraging words about my blog yesterday.  It is my life and sometimes it just oozes out of me.  I basically am a positive, upbeat, happy person and when I do get stressed, I guess I have to say it.  Thank you.  Today is a new day and it will be a good one I pray.

I have received two postcards through Postcrossing this week, and one was from Finland, and the saying on the front means "His blessing to be close to God."  It is from a young lady who wants to be a paramedic, but is studying nursing now.  She said she had been studying mental disorders and thought it to be interesting.  Oddly enough when I was in nursing school, mental disorders was my all time favorite too!

The second card was from the Netherlands.  The card is beautiful and it is nice to hear from people around the world through this medium.

We have no appointments or plans for today or this weekend, so some much needed rest for me is on the schedule.  Jim had therapy yesterday and seems to be ok.  Wishing everyone a good weekend.

  1. Loved foot ball season -- back in the 60's. One fashion style I would love to see come back were the wool plaid Bermuda shorts with coordinating knee socks and sweaters. We were HOT!! Glad you got past your funk yesterday, its tough sometimes being a care giver, and you have a right to feel the way you do!! Me thinks you need a "Linda" day to pamper yourself!! Git er' done!!!

  2. Linda-first of, don't ever be afraid to post your feelings. That is what blogging is about. Second, we live directly behind the HS here, and are excited about the football, however, regular school doesn't start until the day after Labor Day. I quite agree with you..and the cards are beautiful! I also agree you need a pamper day for yourself. Blessings...

  3. I LOVED football season when I was in high school. Of course, I was in the marching band, so got to go to all the games. Such great memories!

So glad you are feeling better today, Linda. We all get into a slump now and then, but friends, prayers and counting blessings can pick us up again. Love you!!

Enjoy your weekend, and please get some much needed R & R!! Hope the weather permits some front porch time!

  4. I remember the pep rallies too. We had a blast. They were held out on the edge of town in a park where we could have a huge bonfire, the band played LOUDLY and we all sang and cheered our players on. Such fun memories. Now the bonfires are illegal (save the environment) and I'm sure they don't have any rallies. The kids today are missing so many fun, harmless activities.
You sound a little better today. I'm so glad. You had me worried yesterday. I prayed with my hubby for you last night. God loves you.
The post cards are always fun to hear about. The card from the gal in Finland was very interesting. You two have something in common. I'm still thinking about signing up for the post card exchange. What was the web site? I didn't bookmark it.
Hope you have a nice restful day. Smile :) ♥

  5. Everyone is entitled to a day like you had and it's good to let it out!
I went to a nursing school that specialized in psychiatric nursing and it was one of my least favorite parts. :) I still use what I learned though.
